Sorcerer Light Animation change (feedback needed!)

Hey folks, I know some people don't like change and this one isn't strictly necessary. It's just something that I never felt fully satisfied with and I wanted to see if I could make it better.

The Sorcerer Light spell animations, I thought I would give it another go at them. This time, I utilized a particular dance animation, along with some carefully chosen vfx (one of which wasn't available in the past), to try to make it look more like the elaborate movements of what a typical sorcerer might look like in fantasy portrayals (replacing the hand-to-heart animation). I also changed the vfx effect on superspeed for neutral/light sorcerer's.

I need your feedback though! Knowing the light animations have been a certain way for so long now (what is it now, over a year?) and not wanting to shove big change on people that's unwanted without any input, I decided to do a little pre-release for it and put up a strawpoll.

You can find the strawpoll here: https://www.strawpoll.me/16930205

You can download the pre-release version from this post at the bottom (it won't be on the website yet). To install it, all you have to do is replace:

Triplis-Sorcerer-V2-4-9--Animations.package

Triplis-Sorcerer-V2-4-9--Interactions.package

With the downloaded files:

Triplis-Sorcerer-V2-4-10--Animations.package

Triplis-Sorcerer-V2-4-10--Interactions.package

Please let me know what you think! I can't guarantee I will go with what your preference is, but I would at least like to get a sense of what peoples' preferences are.

Thanks!

Hmm. I thought PM was an option, but I don't know what it looks like from the other end. Do you have a simfileshare account? Let me know if you don't and I'll PM you an invite code. Then you can upload there and just post the link here in a reply or reply with it in a PM if I've sent you one.

For some reason Patreon is not allowing me to attach the files to send to you. I do not see an option other than posting in Community to message you.

As far as keeping out sims who have a certain trait, you could probably do the reverse (only allow sims who have a certain trait, in this case, the Sorcerer trait). If you want, PM me the package file for the adapted mod you're talking about (I think you should be able to PM me on Patreon). I can't promise I'll be able to help you, but if I can get a sense of how it's set up, I might be able to point you in the direction of how you could only allow sims who have a certain trait.

Wow! Cool! The reason I asked was because I was wondering if it'd be possible for you to make an addition of sorts to the sorcerer mod. I'd like there to be a magical school lot and when at school kids tasks are to attend certain magical classes; maybe create similar decals to Zerbu's Principal/counselor decals and students need to get to the appropriate class ever 1.5 hrs. The classes would be set w/ that decal particular decal on it's door and the student needs to listen to the teacher sim that's speaking there and ask questions or do homework and/or practice spell casting with each other. There should be a teacher at every podium in ever class room talking/teaching all day w/ no need decays while working. Dark arts leaning kids can be more mischievous and get reported to teachers/the principal more often than the light leaning kids and have detention or lose house points (like Harry Potter). Also, have there be houses that kids are sorted into. Doesn't have to be using Harry Potter house names though if you don't want. I was using KawaiiStacie's Private School mod, but she says she has no intention of updating it at this time. I made changes for myself and never gave to any other simmer because I didn't want to steal and take any credit for her's and ItsMeTroi's hard work, but it helped my game play a bit just changing the names of the schools. I had Durmstrang - magic school for boys (no muggleborns allowed, though I could not get them to stop attending in my game), Hogwarts - magic school (unisex, but muggles keeps showing up too), Beauxbatons - magic school for girls, Smeltings - Private school for muggles, and Then a public school for poorer muggles to attend. I tried placing schools in one world and splitting them across multiple worlds, by sims don't care as there is no lot type to label the school and no lot trait to block unwanted sims and no muggle trait I can apply to my sims to then prevent them from even being able to apply to the magic schools. However, I still ended up in the situation where my human/muggle sims were attending the same school as my sorcerer kids no Matter what I did. I'd like there to be ignorant muggles that still think magic is just magicians and wizards/witches are not real, but just stories told to kids and then muggles in the know that either have magic kids that they have to get into a magic school and know about magical things. Ignorant muggles can get tense(+1) when a sim casts a spell or think it's just a magic TRICK. Also, I tried making a Dark Leader sort of trait for my Voldemort, but that failed too. I had a sim have many minions as his Death Eaters, but also.... Do you think you could help me by creating this or at least some of it; like the traits or just the school venue w/ tasks?

You're welcome! I've never done requests in the sense of someone asking me directly for something specific and I make it without question. However, I certainly welcome people to share what it is they'd like to see, so long as it's clear that I can't promise delivering on any particular request, especially in a particular way. Many of my mods have been, at least in part, a matter of delivering on what I hoped other people would like, based on things I read (for example, on the forums) or specific things people had asked for somewhere. A lot of the Sorcerer mod was a request in the sense of making what I hoped other people would enjoy. The Teen Traits and Child Traits packs were both made for others (I rarely play either of those life stages). It's rare that I make something purely with my own desires in mind. There's just too much time and effort involved in most of my mods for it to be worth doing it only for myself. The Thinking Skill is probably the only time I've done a mod project that was heavily centered around what I'd be into, though, as always, I still try to take into account how other people are going to experience the mod and whether they might enjoy it. In short, typically, the three main factors at play have been: what other people seem to want, what I seem to want, and what seems like an overall improvement for the game experience as a whole (which, if done right, some people will like when they see it, but may not know they wanted it until they see it). So request away, as long as it's clear I can't promise fulfilling any particular request.

Triplis, I love your Sorcerer MOD!!! It makes my game play so much richer. THANK YOU for all of your hard work! I was wondering, any measure of requests at all or do you only create content that you yourself would want in your game?
