Nature Painting & Dokomi Announcement

This month has been all about experimentation for me. For a long time I've made it my mission to achieve a traditional look in digital media and I feel like I'm closer than ever. BUT the switch to watercolour or gouache seems inevitable at some point. I just love these textures and I'd love to achieve them with real paint! Working traditionally is scary, because you can't easily fix and change things, but maybe a challenge like that is exactly what I need to shake things up.
Anyway, I'm really happy with this little painting, and I'm just trying to lean into things that I love: Painting foliage and rocks and getting lost in the little details.

2022-06-07 08:50:56 +0000 UTCI’m just starting to explore gouache myself so I can’t wait to hear about your journey with it! Also I highly recommend trying painting with ink. I feel like it would be a fun exercise for you while you explore traditional materials. Creating cats (or other furry creatures) with a wet on wet technique is so fun, even if you never show anyone. Ink flows in a way nothing else I’ve tried does.
