Hello friends! How are you today?
The painting posed some challenges that I wasn't expecting, especially after the 3/4 mark when I tried to push it towards the finish line. I tried a few things, like switching on some of the neon signs, but that only took me away further from the vision I originally had. It just didn't capture the dreary, gritty, lived-in look that I was going for and made it a little bit too vibrant and exciting. Usually, my paintings are vibrant and colourful, but currently, I find muted tones and moodier scenes more intriguing. That might change very quickly though. I find that I never stick very long to a certain thing. Especially with the weather warming up, I might be in the mood for some light-hearted work very soon.
Back to the painting: I noodled around with it, tried different things, but didn't quite know which parts to detail any further. Turns out it actually didn't need more detail, because in rainy weather, things get a bit washed out and blurry. So the painting was actually already finished, and I just needed to add a noise texture and some rain.
That being said, I am going to include a character (I'm still deciding on their design), and I will add some raindrops bouncing off the surfaces that they're hitting. I just felt like sharing it with you already. Despite it being unfinished, I hope you like it so far.
