Hello friends,
I hope you're doing well!
I've had some time to think recently. About life and work and my relationship to art, and I realised that I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself: to make bigger illustrations, more details, etc. I've also been stressing myself out because I couldn't come up with anything "new". I had painted all the things I loved multiple times already: Nature scenes, train stations, temples, little alleyways and streets, storefronts, the sea, cute animals... so now all I could do was repeat myself or find something new, and that thought bummed me out.
But now I realise that I just love the process of painting: simply placing colours next to each other with smaller and bigger lines, and creating the illusion of textures and lighting is what it's really all about for me. I love getting lost in details, and things like a small corner of a room or a shadow can tell a story.
So I started doing these smaller paintings and I'm having more fun than I've had in a loooong time! And I could easily see this growing into a series. I also want to experiment with making Polaroid-style prints out of these once I have a few more.
The PSD files and steps will also be included with the next round of rewards!
