New Sketch! Early Access

Hello friends!

I hope you're doing well and are having a nice week so far.

I've been working on a new painting for a couple of days now and it's finally at a stage where I'm excited to show it to you.

I also want to include the previous step of my process, which is something I do when I'm faced with a pretty complex scene: I build a photobash/collage sketch to piece together the space and to get an idea for colours, composition etc. I then drew the sketch in Procreate using the Assisted Drawing option and the "Ink" brush at about 30% opacity.

I've had this scene in my mind for a while, but wasn't confident whether I could pull it off or not. But after the last painting (the crazy cityscape) I figured "screw it", if I can do THAT, I can do anything!

The idea is to have a little isolated space up on the rooftop, away from everything that's going on below. I guess this is a bit of a child's fantasy, just like building treehouses and climbing on things.

I hope you like it!

Thank you so much, Andrew! I'm glad I could show you something new in Procreate. For drawing, it's my absolute favourite. The perspective tools and Liquify tool are the absolute best.

Sorry about the late reply, I just saw your question now! I use Clip Studio Paint for the 3D models.

You’ve just taught me something in Procreate. I had no idea about Assisted Drawing. Many artists I follow use Clip Studio Paint and I’ve been trying to learn that, but Procreate seems like it has more awesome features that were just hidden to me. Im looking forward to the finished work! Your last one made me change my PC wallpaper for the first time in a decade.

Hi Djamila, thanks for sharing this. I have a question about lighting reference on the character. Which software do you use to generate a character's anatomy and lighting reference? Thanks.
