Boy was October intense!

I don’t know how, but here’s everything I managed to do last month:

-I got up to track 20 released for Intro to Japanese as tester tracks! This may actually be more like 25-30 tracks, as some of those long tracks will need to be split. Either way, there is currently over 4 hours of this new material online! This is much more than I ever set out to release in this way, but I guess I got over-excited! Whilst these are tester tracks, that’s mostly because I just can’t stop raising the bar. They are not inferior to what is found on the app, and countless hours have been put into them, both in the writing and checking with natives. So if you don’t want to wait for the official audio release, I really do recommend starting with these videos. I’m very proud of this material and what is achieved with it - for such a challenging and nuanced language like Japanese - and so I'm excited about sharing it with you!

Here’s the sessions:

Tracks 1-8: https://youtu.be/Pjs4Ok1yf0c

Tracks 9-11: https://youtu.be/fsJ7gi2FeTA

Tracks 12-15: https://youtu.be/YyekKKM5Mkg

Tracks 16-20: https://youtu.be/0PhX8haDqSQ

If you'd like the eventual recorded course to be the best version of itself that it can be, please remember to share this material both with people learning Japanese, and native Japanese speakers who may be interested in helping out as volunteers (more about that in the video descriptions). The more sharing - the more collaborations!

-I put together a special ‘fast track’ Swahili workshop which I debuted for new students at SOAS, University of London. This was a great opportunity to start having more influence institutionally, and so I’m very thankful for the department there being open-minded enough to invite me - that said, it is because during the last years their students were getting better at Swahili, and it’s because they were finding LT! :) The recording is online (https://youtu.be/q55qGJaghDU ) which should help get more institutions open their doors to LT. Feel free to share it, along with my substack inviting myself to operate on university campuses! https://substack.com/@languagetransfer/note/p-172176212?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=ufgt0

-And finally, I uploaded my first Thinking Method session (for new course writers) focused on Hebrew <--> Arabic. I have many more of these recorded over the years, but this is the first one I've uploaded as I've been too busy to think about them and the files end up…. somewhere. These guys though have been working for a long time on their courses, and so I made a special effort to edit and release the video ASAP knowing it would be especially useful for the increasing number of people wanting more instruction around The Thinking Method.

-I now turn the bulk of my attentions back to English for Spanish speakers whilst I await more native speaker feedback for the Japanese test tracks, and before recording both courses fully! The more informal video format, though, means that any random surprise (like the Swahili workshop) could drop at any time! So do subscribe to stay in the loop there! www.youtube.com/languagetransfer

So that’s all the news! And as always, if you would like a goody/sharer pack or if you’re due an InterLinear ebook (check your tier), give me a shout through direct message (if you can’t work out how to do that here, simply comment below that you’d like me to message you!).

All the best and thank you for all your amazing support!

Hey Pete! And thanks for being here supporting! You can find the transcript here www.languagetransfer.org/faq for free but as mentioned on the doc, it is done by volunteers and so is likely to contain some errors, so that's to bear in mind! All the best and thanks again! Mihalis

Language Transfer

I would love a text copy (download is fine) of the Spanish course for English learners but don’t know how to order or if it is available

Pete Raines

Sorry for my delay Amanda! It really depends on the language, and also the balance between collaboration and funds - more collaboration makes less funds necessary and I'm very open to finding ways that work according to the particular situation . Were you asking for something specific?

Language Transfer

Question in looking for corporate sponsorship- what does it cost to sponsor a new language course? (Assuming, of course, that's it's one you'd be interested in doing)

Amanda

this is amazing, i've been feeling discouraged with japanese recently and I'm excited to try to get back into it with these lessons.
