Boy was October intense!

I don’t know how, but here’s everything I managed to do last month:

-I got up to track 20 released for Intro to Japanese as tester tracks! This may actually be more like 25-30 tracks, as some of those long tracks will need to be split. Either way, there is currently over 4 hours of this new material online! This is much more than I ever set out to release in this way, but I guess I got over-excited! Whilst these are tester tracks, that’s mostly because I just can’t stop raisin...

Japanese tester tracks now available!

Hello dear supporters!

If you’re desperate to get started with Japanese and don’t want to wait for the official release, I'm here to let you know that tracks 1-8 of Introduction to Japanese have been released in tester (video) mode, which you can find here! I’ll also record and release up to track 15 for checki...

Japanese update and other news!

Hello dear supporters!

I’ve been busy, busy, busy writing the two new courses to be recorded (Japanese and English for Spanish speakers) and I have to say, I’m very excited about all the new material. Every time I come back to writing, the previous courses have risen the bar and I find myself in direct competition with myself, pouring hours into the proverbial pottery wheel, reshaping the course run-through by run-through until I feel that I've surpassed myself, and then again and t...

Summer Update!

Hey y’all

Since my last update, there’s been some weird and wonderful developments!

Inglés Completo (Complete English for Spanish Speakers) is finally going to happen, and not only that, the current Intro course will be archived and everything is going to be redone. After over a decade since recording 'Introducción a Inglés', I've upped my game a fair bit and so, turning my attention back to English has meant some massive reframing in how I think we should understand the la...

Languages blooming!

Hello everybody!

It’s been a busy spring, with plenty of workshops! I haven’t traditionally recorded my workshops, preferring as I do the intimacy of more private events, so it’s taking a little getting used to but I am slowly getting used to it! I’ll eventually polish 90 minute workshops for all LT languages, which are also a great thing to have online to show people just how much they can learn in such a short time, and get them to take it further!

Since my last post wi...

May Update!

Hello y’all

Since I last wrote, I’ve had my first ever British Sign Language workshop which you can access here: https://youtu.be/gjKhwmbuY-E?si=9HxiU_XJASN96HC-

The host let me know they haven’t stopped hearing amazing things about the workshop and they've asked for another in June, so I’m super happy about that. I was very nervous as it was unfamiliar territory (you might not no...

April Update!

Hey y’all! I have some cool things to tell you! :)

-I have my first 15 tracks of Intro to Japanese all but finalised and ready for recording! As with each new language, different elements of the method get to shine in Intro to Japanese, and I love how the language is forcing new focuses! I think I’m solving some age-old problems for learners of Japanese, and I’m having fun reframing the traditional way Japanese has been understood. That said, I still need more native speaker volun...

Hello all and happy February!

Just to let you know Intro to Japanese is coming along tastily, and I’m ready for some native speaker help! If you are a Japanese native speaker and could spare as little as 1hr+ a week (for me to ask you random questions) then please let me know! This will also save me from announcing this publicly which I would prefer not to do until boom… course!  With a little native help, this course is likely to be the only one ready sooner than I thought it would(!) I really forgot how much Ja...

Project Update!

Hello all you gorgeously supportive people!

This update is just for paid subscribers. I’m not sure exactly when but Patreon at some point also began allowing non-paying subscribers, which I can’t help but feel defeats the point of this platform but I guess I need to learn more about it all! But anyway, for now I just have a couple of things to tell, and ask, you all!

First of all, I’ve made another plan for 2025, not going back on the last one but just adding to it, here’s...

2024, beyond and before

Hello and a very happy new year to each and every one of you!

...And why not begin the new year with some unaesthetic sincerity!? I really do hate writing these things! I have no idea who I’m talking to and that bothers me. I often wonder how they do it, those folks who make a living out of talking to no-one and everyone via a camera. I gave up with video updates some time back, just shooting out an occasional one to make sure people knew I was still here. I can’t believe it’s bee...

Autumn Update!

Hello everybody!

Since my last post I've been very busy meeting with new (and old!) talent and beginning collaborations for the forthcoming Language Transfer documentary. I also made a substack post where I've explained a little more about it all, and elaborated on how you can collaborate! I'm eager to include your stories about how Language Transfer has been instrumental in your life -in whichever way- in Part 1 of the documentary, more details in the article!  (PS. if anyone is i...

Time to Break The Fourth Wall!

Whenever I'm quiet a little while, there's always a good reason ;) ...and I'm relieved that most supporters trust that at this stage! Thank you!

I had said in my last post at the beginning of June that I "hope to have some interesting news about whatever it is I find in my [admin] mountain", and I do! How did I ever forget about all the thought I'd already put into a feature-length documentary? All that stuff I wanted to share about learning, language, the brain, identity, and the socio...

Some nice news!

Hey Y’all!

Firstly, I’m glad to tell you I’m very well again! :) Thanks for all your kind messages!

Apart from focusing on getting the platform (www.languagetransfer.org/platform) up and running this summer, I’ll also be dedicating some time to getting this whole ship in order! During course-creating periods a lot gets neglected and there’s so much I note down to do - anything from stultifying admin to ideas to pursue for calmer periods like this. So I’ll get onto that...

May Update!

Hello all!

I’ll keep this brief as I’m unwell again :( but just on the way up… still dizzy, exhausted and brain-swelled psychedelic though!

I’m pleased to announce, after years in the making, that ‘Introduction to Music (Theory)’ is finally released in full. 30 tracks and over 8 hours of course time! I can’t wait to hear about how many musicians this course makes. And I don’t want to make any promises, because there is always more to do that can be done, but I hope...

April 2023 Update!

Hello all, and thank you for being here supporting 'Language Transfer & The Thinking Method'!

Since last posting I've been very busy (and painfully focused!) on finishing Intro to Music, up to track 27 is currently online which means only a few tracks remain! I only plan to reach track 30 on this course, and that should all get released this month! This isn't a short course though, at already 7+ hours it's the longest Intro course I've made, and so I'm looking forward to wrapping up...

Intro to Music continues releasing!

Hello dear supporters of Language Transfer & The Thinking Method!

Just a quick one to share my joy that after many delays there are finally new tracks for Intro to Music available! Tracks 21 and 22 are now online, adding a full half-hour to the current course length, and there's more coming very soon! The coming 5 tracks or so will be the final releases for Intro to Music, and whilst I'll be sad to wrap up this course which has been such a wonder to write, I'm excited to then turn m...

First 2023 Update!

Hello everyone!

I know I’ve been quiet, I’ve been thinking.

Coming into 2022, I told myself (and you, I believe!) that I would give it a year with the ‘competition model' to find new course writers, and then reflect on that to see if we’d continue as per, or change the game. I had almost forgotten that, until things forced me to reconsider where everything was in reality as opposed to just in my head.

Wrapped up in the team dream that my last (now almost embarrassing...

November-December news!

Hello dear supporters of Language Transfer and the Thinking Method!

This is a project looking to uncover things that help us access more of the world and of ourselves - and one another. Things that can make it a little bit more exciting to live in this world, things that inspire us to be more than what we might have been… that’s what we’re all doing here, together. As cheesy as it might sound, it’s no less true for it!

This month I’ll be returning to the base in Asturias...

October Update

Hello all, and welcome to October, the 8th month (oct-ober), of the year that’s actually the 10th month, but never mind about that!

The new iOS app has been released, but alas, there is a bug still affecting some users which the app guys are currently working on to push a new update ASAP which will correct it - thank you for your patience! There are still more plans for the app, such as automated pausing and other controls, only app building is very complicated and the app is...

August update!

Hello all and thank you for your pledges this month, and sorry for my delay in posting an update! I was hoping to announce in this update that the new iOS app was rolling out, but app building is complicated and bugs appear as you squash other bugs! Luckily, LT is enjoying the support of two enthusiastic volunteers who are busily working on getting this long-time-coming update online ASAP! If you use iOS and have time to test the app, please shoot me a message so that I can send you the next ...

July news!

Hello everyone and thank you so much for your pledges this month!

Things are storming ahead with Intro to Music, the first non-language Thinking Method course, with well over 4 hours of course time now online! This course leaves the door wide open for further collaborations for Thinking Method courses in new, surprising subjects!

Things are also moving ahead beautifully with the ‘mystery language course writer’ I mentioned in May, which I won’t announce properly until we hav...

June, (already!)

Hello everyone, and thank you for all your pledges this month! Slowly, slowly we are turning this project into a movement! Interest in the method by new course writers seems to be increasing monthly of late, and I'm forever more sure that this model of directing new teachers can and will work - it's all just about finding the right people!

I've released around 50 minutes of new material for Intro to Music during May, so am happy to be finally settled back enough in Cyprus to be releasin...

May!

Hello dear supporters of Language Transfer & The Thinking Method!

Thank you for all your pledges this month!

Things in Cyprus are moving along nicely, we now have a space to engage the public in and to test new material prior to recording, and to install an eventual team of course! Almost ironically, at the same time we have the first winner from the 'competition' for new course writers, from the other side of the globe! That is to say that I have agreed to move full spe...

Hello all and thank you so much for your pledges this month! I know it’s a hard month for a lot of you, with the cost of living going up all over the place. Hello y’all and thank you for your pledges this month!

This is turning out to be quite a personal post (back edit!) but I’m happy to share this stuff with you all. Still, the main news is at the beginning here in case the rest bores your socks off ;)

Reshuffle!

Hello supporters of Language Transfer and The Thinking Method! Happy new year and thanks for being here! I have some news for you about what I'll be doing this year!

Last year I dedicated a lot of time and energy to trying to build the team I had been dreaming about for so long, but it has been to little avail! Every time I'm convinced it's going great and this is the time someone will follow through, 'smack!' - the email that says 'this is too much for me', or 'I don't have time for th...
