Pathfinder Remaster

Hello all,

Just thought I would do a quick post on my thoughts for the Pathfinder Remaster.

My plan at the moment (although this might change as new information comes out) is to:

1) Treat the remaster like I do all errata and update the app accordingly. I'll be letting users know via popups in the app that the remaster is coming as we approach the date.

2) Create a version of the web app fixed at the publish just before the remaster, with an address like pathbuilder2e.com/legacy.html which will contain the app with the old unremastered classes.  Anyone who doesn't want remastered content can use the legacy version.  The legacy version would not be updated ever again, including for bug fixes.  I may have to switch off some functions in the legacy version like character sharing and GM connect to ensure ongoing compatibility.

3) Similarly publish a version of the android app in APK form and host it somewhere.  I will give a warning to android users to turn off auto updating of their app if they do not want remastered content. Again, this unremastered version would not be updated ever again.

My thinking is that all content published by paizo after the remaster will be building on the remastered content, so anyone who does not remastered content will be opting out of further updates. The remaster proposals look great to me and I totally sympathise with Paizo's desire to get away from the OGL as soon as they can.

There will no doubt be some bumps and problems as we transition to the remaster but I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

As ever, thank you for your continued support.

Dave

I'm changing as little as possible until the actual remaster so that people can opt out.

Are you going to be putting remaster preview stuff in BTW? There are a lot of stuff Rage of Elements references that can only be found there. If your not sure what I'm talking about: https://paizo.com/pathfinder/corepreview

Yeah, this makes sense to me. Lot of places going to try to hold remaster and legacy stuff together, but at some point something would have to give.
