I thought its about time I show you my "roadmap" to where the journey goes with Hometown. Also so you guys see that theres an actual plan behind this all and not just some random stuff nobody knows whats really going on...
(List is in order, top= highest priority, bottom= lowest priority)
Currently in development:
- More detail on road meshes (meaning: new road types with more road structure detail)
- Fields placing, adjusting (and crops - if csp gets the grassfx update)
- New road textures (some that have better color matching to IRL roads)
- Preparing farm areas for upcoming farm objects
- 3D model creation of 3D Vegetation (Official support of 2D Variant will end as soon as 3D variant will be placed - since keeping both updated would mean even lesser time for other stuff)
Planned stuff:
- Recreating farms (Trying to rebuild authentic german farms in their own style, currently getting their creation started)
- Complete rework of vegetation (can be started as soon as the required 3D models are finished)
- Autobahn endless loop (requires Tunnel mesh with own signage, street is already set, parking/spawning spots still need to be placed)
- City buildings (will probably start after the endless loop since this is one of the biggest changes - requires lots of time again)
- Airport upgrade (New 3D models with better optimisation)
- Easter eggs (surprise surprise)
- Physical and visual detaching for roads (for better performance and extra road detail for steering wheel users)
About 3D vegetation:
Yes I know. Performance is not as good as 2D vegetation. I will include the 2D trees even after the change so people that have massive performance problems (speaking about an unplayable game) have the opportunity to go back to this variant. But the 2D variant will not receive any further expansion - it will stay as it is.
Just... the whole look of 3D vegetation is in my opinion worth the fps... scenes will look much more like real life and greatly improve visual quality, and maybe we'll get lucky and TreeFX improves in performance over the next few weeks.
I did the first few tests and noticed that its an medium performance impact, it obviously matters at how many trees you are looking at and how near you are, for example when driving past 250 of those 3D trees around 10 meters away I got around 37-42 fps, but when driving through them performance rapidly started to decline to only 30fps, buuuuut since most bigger forests are always a few meters away from an road I dont think it will be much of an issue... we'll see
(Normally on Kunos tracks one car I also get around 35-45fps, so it was still really playable for me)
Please always remember that I am basically pulling off a "one-man show" so everything requires a bit more time also since we are still speaking about 900km of roads which isnt a small number anymore to be honest... so the area I have to cover is relatively big.
Currently I am waiting for the vegetations 3D models and place/adjust Fields + prepare areas for the Farm meshes also I am upgrading many roads in terms of surface detail and textures.
One car is also in the making and nearly finished for you.
(Only groups as declared will get the download)
The car itself will be free, but it is up to said group to who they want to distribute it.
The track update will come in a few days again and will probably not look like much since most of the work in progress stuff that currently happens is outside of what you get...
Oh and also I am planning to make another free roam map, of course Hometown will stay top priority and 85-90+% of my ressources will guaranteed be still dedicated to it, this said free roam will be outside of germany but still in the EU and with maaany elevation changes also it will be my first free release. I will occasionally work on it from time to time... but for now I will keep it a lil secret :)

Hello Also hometown liegt auch so ca zwischen den gleichen fps die ich bei normalen kunos tracks bekomme (I7 7700k,1080ti - 4k res alles maxed out, brauche nicht die ü60fps da ich einen FreeSync capable monitor habe der unter 60 fps wie 60 fps gameplay aussehen lässt) Heißt es liegt alles noch im spielbaren Bereich, außerdem werde ich verschiedene performance presets mitgeben damit leute mit relativ schwacher hardware somit trotzdem ein gutes spielerlebnis haben 👍

2023-01-09 16:08:16 +0000 UTCDie Performance von ~40 FPS mit 3D Bäumen die du hier ansprichst macht mir irgendwie angst. Was ist denn deine übliche Performance bei anderen Maps? Ich bin in VR drauf angewiesen, dass Assetto Corsa auf 90FPS gelockt läuft. Tut es bis in wenigen Ausnahmesituationen (z.b. manche Stellen von SRP, Nachts bei Regen) auch. Aktuell läuft Omega bei mir ohne Probleme mit 90 FPS und ca. 50% GPU Auslastung in VR. Auf dem Screen mit doppel WQHD sogar mit knapp 200 FPS?! Von daher frage ich mich, ob tatsächlich ein so drastischer Einbruch zu erwarten ist oder ist deine persönliche Grundperformanace eifach schon ein gutes Stück niedriger 🤔 Versteh ich da richtig, bei einem Kunos Track bist du in dieser Range? Wie läuft dann Omega überhaupt?
