All the events afterwards and the rules regarding not celebrating etc. are all quite similar to the Orthodox religions. Although I have noticed being a Greek-Australian that the common white/Anglo Australian approach to religious ceremonies or events is very casual. As you said, go to the funeral and that's it, all done.

I think you alluded to this, but I have always found the Japanese memorial service process interesting in that it seems to address the rather slow process of grief. Grief is very intense right at the start, and that is where the memorial process is every day. Then it slowly backs off as the close family and friends say goodbye.
