I dont know if it was you or whoever said it but I think these shrines are no longer government funded meaning that the locals have to work there for free and do the place up for free? So sad that this is going on, I know Japanese people love their shrines and culture but the government printed and pumped yen into Ga-doman at every location they could of invested in this to!
