2021-12-12 23:04:07 +0000 UTCIt seems to me like there is a massive disconnect between words and actions across how culturally things are approached in Japan. Solemnity when applied to an action seems to give it legitimacy regardless of what is actually happening. This happens in many countries but it seems to be dialed up to 11 in Japan especially for building new things. Having an robust complicated recycling system does not offset the ecological impact of building a new house every 30 years.
