Chapter  28 - Invitation to ALA

I have to admit, I might be a little too easy to sway.

In this town, there aren’t any powerful enemies to be wary of, and since Ronda’s Lord, a person of authority and common sense, was present, I might have let my guard down.

I was watching the situation develop, and eventually Marcel came in. All my possible escape routes were being eliminated, one by one…

Apparently, Cariana had called for him to make adjustments to our Contract Magic pacts.

In addition, he bound all present to a confidentiality agreement.

Before Marcel arrived, Zanvert gave me more details about Contract Magic.

According to him, nobles do not use it often.

The game of politics among nobles has a lot of grey areas, and using Contract Magic would leave little to no wiggle room, so it was ill-suited for them. On the surface, they say it’s because they value mutual trust, though.

Despite this, Albert quickly agreed to the Contract, so I felt that he could be trusted.

Zanvert also talked to me about Arlene.

She was going to turn thirteen soon; it was customary for nobles to enroll into the capital’s academy at the end of the year they turned thirteen years old. The next year, when they turned fourteen and became of age, they would graduate: boys would either return to their domain to contribute to its government or stay in the capital and find a job. Girls, on the other hand, normally found a marriage partner while in the academy.

Albert was Ronda’s Lord, but this was a remote region. His position as noble was not particularly appealing, so there was little hope of finding a good candidate for Arlene’s marriage. She had exceptional talent in magic, however, so it was time to have her start training…and in the middle of such circumstances, I showed up.

Arlene’s training was going to be treated as a request from the guild. In other words, I was going to get rewarded for it.

It still sounded like it could bring about trouble, so I had to back out of it, before it was too late…

I watched Marcel making the preparations for the Contract, pondering what Zanvert told me…and reached my conclusion.

“Well…if anything happens, I guess I’ll deal with it somehow!”

When all procedures were complete, it was already past four in the afternoon.

I, Misha, Zizi, Pipi, Dorothea and Arlene headed towards the town gates.

“Could you not stay until tomorrow?”

Dorothea looked at the setting sun, worried.

“No problem.”

So I replied, then crossed the gates and started walking towards the forest.

After about fifteen minutes of walking, I made sure no one else was around and opened the path to ALA.

I pushed the dumbfounded Zizi and Pipi and the very agitated Dorothea inside, made sure no one was left out and closed the entrance.

I then led everyone to the terrace.

“There aren’t enough rooms for everyone, so Dorothea and Arlene will use Misha’s room tonight. Zizi and Pipi, downstairs you’ll find Sil’s room, please stay there with Misha.”

I then asked Misha to take Dorothea and Arlene to her room.

Zizi and Pipi were looking at the scenery.

“Look! There’s a waterfall!”

“It’s true! This place is amazing, Pipi!”

I watched them with a smile, until Misha came back.

After everyone was present again, I explained about ALA to them.

“This space was created with the Space Magic spell Dimension Area. Normally, there aren’t any monsters, animals, or even insects here, so it’s basically safe. The only creatures here at present are Horn Rabbits, for training.”

Dorothea’s bunny ears perked up, and she raised a hand.

“So you have magic skills too, Tenma? What other magic do you know? I want to learn more about this spell too.”

“There’s no time to teach you, Lady Dorothea. If you keep asking, I’m sending you back home.”

Dorothea still looked like she was going to keep talking, but I ignored her and continued explaining.

“I call this place “Anyplace Learning Area” - ALA for short. For today, just make yourselves at home. Starting tomorrow, Zizi and Arlene are going to start training. Pipi…well, you can do what you want.”

Everyone nodded, except Dorothea. She pointed at herself, eagerly awaiting my next words.

“What training do you have for me, Tenma?”

“After breakfast tomorrow, you’re going back to town. That’s what Zanvert wants too. If you really want to stay, you have to convince him first.”

Dorothea looked hopeless for a moment, then her expression turned serious. Was she trying to convince Zanvert via Mental Message…?

I let her do her thing and continued.

“That’s all. Zizi and I are going to prepare dinner. Everyone else, just take it easy. Misha, show them around ALA, will you?”

Zizi and I went to my Room, to make preparations for the dinner barbecue. After about fifteen minutes, we went back to ALA.

Because of her lack of stamina, however, she got exhausted pretty quickly, and I had to make most of the preparations myself…

In any case, when we returned we found everyone gathered around the toilet, for some reason.

Ronda was more developed than the Pioneers’ Village, but even there sewage-related facilities were still lacking, so everyone was impressed by ALA’s toilet magic tool.

Dorothea peppered me with questions about how it worked, but I replied that “eating comes first” and ditched her.

I led everyone to the roof and the barbecue started.

While eating, Zizi and Arlene talked with Misha about training.

Misha gave quick answers, as her usual, but when Zizi and Arlene learned about night-time training, they turned to me with terror in their eyes.

Dorothea followed me around for a while, but since I ignored her she eventually gave up and went to listen to Misha instead. Misha’s explanations were too vague for her, though: soon enough, her predator-like eyes turned back on me.

Pipi was getting along with Sil, feeding him meat. She learned Mental Message too, who knows when, and was enjoying chatting with him.

I quietly grilled and ate meat throughout the barbecue, relishing in the peaceful atmosphere.

After dinner, we gathered in the living room next to the terrace, to take a digestive break.

Arlene, Zizi, and Misha seemed to get along well already: they were sitting together on the sofa, chatting and laughing. Next to them, Pipi was hugging Sil, almost dozing off.

Dorothea clearly wanted to talk: she firmly planted her feet right next to me and stared, making me feel pretty uncomfortable.

I stood up and addressed the group.

“I have things to do, so I’m going to leave now. Breakfast will be served at 6 tomorrow. Do your best to wake up on time, okay? Lady Dorothea, I asked Zanvert, and it turns out they really want you to go back once. After breakfast tomorrow, please go back to Ronda.”

Dorothea’s bunny ears drooped down in sadness, but I was going to be pretty busy for the next day, so I had no time to waste taking care of her.

“I-Indeed, that’s what Zanvert said…I am going to prepare well and come with more time to spare next time, so…please don’t abandon me, Tenmie…!”

Stop that right now!! You’re making me sound like some playboy or something!

“I want to take a bath tomorrow morning! At 5!”

Yep, never change, Misha!

“T-That is really irresistible…”

Sounds like Zizi became a fan too.

“I want to take a bath with Sil!”

You like it too, Pipi? Glad to hear it.

“A bath? Like the ones nobles in the capital have?”

Arlene seemed interested too. She was going to understand once she tried it, so I didn’t bother explaining.

“Okay, make sure you’re up at 5 then. Misha, Zizi, take Arlene to the bath with you before breakfast. Once everyone starts training, I’ll take Pipi and Sil to take a bath with me.”

Pipi looked happy, but Dorothea was surprised.

“Pipi is small, but she’s still a girl! You can’t possibly get in the bath together!”

“There is no need to worry, I made swimsuits especially for these occasions.”

“But…”

Misha then dropped a bomb.

“I wore a swimsuit too when Tenma first taught me how to use the bath. It’s fine.”

“Whuatt!? If that is allowed, then I want to take a bath with Tenma too…”

What on earth is this woman saying!?

Wait, maybe I should make a bunny girl outfit-like swimsuit, complete with fishnet tights and…no no no!!

“...I don’t have a swimsuit for you, Lady Dorothea. I’m afraid we can’t go in together.”

“P-Please, I want a swimsuit too…I’ll pay! I’ll pay, so…please?”

What!? I really might make you a bunny girl outfit, you know!? Are you really sure about this!?

“I-I have no time for that right now! I’ll let you know another time!”

I pretty much ran out of the living room and opened a door to my Room.

Dorothea came chasing after me, but she couldn’t come inside unless she touched me.

I went to the creation workshop and started making clothes and equipment for Arlene.

First, animal ears and tail. I was going to model them after the first inspiration that struck me, a papillon dog.

I kept the hair relatively long, while also making them more fluffy than the animal ears I had made until now.

As for her clothes, I made them close to Misha’s style, but picked shorts and pure white tights for the bottoms. I decorated the top with some frills and lace, then added decorations on the shoulders and chest area, similar to a papillon’s typical long fur.

Since she aimed to become a magician, I should make her a robe too. I tried making one with subdued colors, with yellow-brown as base. I then made a pointy hat, naturally equipped with a hairband with papillon ears.

I then made some fluffy yellow-brown roomwear: Arlene’s clothes were complete for now.

The final touch was a simple one piece-type swimsuit, with a detachable sarong too.

I then moved to the smithy, to make some accessories.

First I made leather boots with heels, then a ring.

Like with the chokers, I added Mithril decorations, carved with a papillon motif.

I attached the decorations to the ring and used Enchantment Magic to embed Status and Mental Message on them.

As for Storage, I could only give them half the capacity of what Dorothea and the others had: because of the small size of the items, that was the limit. It was surely enough space for their necessities though, so I left it like that.

Lastly, I made a rod for Arlene to use as a weapon.

It was going to help her control her magic power, and if she learned Staff Skills she could also use it as a blunt weapon.

Once complete, I put it into her ring Storage and went to take a bath.

I realized that I hadn’t slept since the day before, so I decided to turn in early.

At least, that’s what I was thinking when I came out of the bath…

But I really wanted to make Dorothea’s clothes too!!

I thus steered away from the bedroom route and returned to the creation workshop.

I didn’t have to give them to her anyway…just making the clothes shouldn’t be a problem…

I wasn’t really going to make a bunny girl-type swimsuit, though.

First I made a simple pair of pants with a bunny tail, then a sort of sweater with threads obtained from spider-type monsters. When paired with a corset, they would accentuate her slim waist and ample bosom…no, Tenma! Stop!

I started with simple designs, but before I noticed, ended up with rather titillating products…just imagining her wearing them was going to make my nose bleed.

Okay, I’ll just put these away somewhere…yet, in the remote chance I give them to her…if she walked around in these, I wouldn’t know where to look!!

I thus also made a robe to wear over them.

The end product was a simple white robe with blue as an accent color. It seemed very fitting for a high rank magician, or a priestess…

Imagining her taking this robe off made me…

Once again, I almost got a nosebleed.
