bog doodles

Doodles done while on the bog (cept the last picture where attempted to observe n draw some goats at a farm).maybe some mild foxglove spoilers, but dialogue and designs are still very likely to change.

I might redraw the silly cow and Rapunzel homophone joke 'cause they make me chuckle, even if they're stupid. (although the cow joke doesn't work now that I read that they didn't take the eye out the cow before slicing it; the joke is assuming the cow is expecting to get her eye back once they took it out for the shoot, unaware they're going to chop it)

Speaking of the what goes on on the bog, reading J. Peterson's recent book was quite a slog (his lectures are much better paced - the Pinocchio and Peter Pan analyses were quite interesting). But it was worth it for all the psychological/philosophical/religious references peppered throughout that I wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for reading it*. I think I've definitely got more out of that and Desmond Morris etc. for writing characters than any screenwriting book or godawful TVTropes page, that's for certain!

*(much like John K's blog for example. It's great for all the information and history unknown to you being condensed and filtered through one personality as an introduction for if you don't know where to start. It's not so helpful for anyone to stop right there, and live off the predigested information of one person who has discarded all the other information that doesn't match their vision. Anyway Dostoevsky, Jung and Nietzsche all sound rather interesting, although I doubt they'll be as digestible to my daft brain as the paraphrased, simplified, Petersonified versions.)

This is all just to get away from writing stories and characters that is just more of the usual sardonic cruel Chuck Jones formula bastardisations that animators so easily fall into. Are all animators bullied as children?
