Initially I intended to just post character designs but decided this needs an intro first.
Also I wanted to address that whole elephant in the room as to why Hades and Persephone look so much like Vlad and Elly xD (to be fair, nobody complained, but I just wanted to share the experience)
Well.. let's dig in!!
One day I was intensely stressed, I had a writer /art block and a very hard important part of the story in BloodStain was supposed to be resolved, but the stress kept me from producing anything of coherence after months and months grinding away just trying to write a single episode.
So i decided I needed a break.
I stumbled upon some myths and decided, hey...I'll just doodle a few gods, try to design them in a creative way, get my mind off the story for 5 minutes and just enjoy myself.
This was an intensely different setting from bloodstain because there was no modern day technology involved. just me, and the beautiful beautiful nature with a bunch of people whom I can give powers and just draw however I wanted.
The original myth I wanted to tackle was the one of Artemis and Orion one. It was a myth that was on my mind since 2009 when I dabbled in trying to create some scenes, but nothing really came off it. So I decided.. eh lets research more Gods and see if I can doodle more:
so yeah...

now you must be thinking:
wow all of these look like trash!!
hey shut up XD I said I was drawing to relax, and I was basically practicing some different head and body shapes, plus these are all done on paper with ballpoint pen, so no erasing :P
Anyways, moving on ;D
Oh hey! here are some familiar faces.

so after doodling a bunch of different gods I stumbled on a Hades and Persephone story and thought.. hmm what would they look like? And bam Elly with flowers in her hair immediately dropped on my mind.
So I got to thinking, yeah ok.. I'm not doing that brain, let's think of something original, lets not bring Vlad and Elly into it.
But nope... Bam. Elly with flowers in her hair. I tried to change her face, her hair color.. but nope. Auburn hair, slightly darker completion and a bright green dress were just a perfect contrast and I could see Persephone as noone else.

Vlad got quite a makeover though. No white labcoats, no glasses, no unruly fuzzy hair. The nose stays though XD it's the pale and skinny face that made me envision an overworked bureaucrat like Hades. He sees no sun, and the longer he stays under the more bone like his completion.
But enough about them, they will get their own separate post.
It's funny, when I first drew Hades and Persephone I didn't think much of it. But I drew small snippets, and the chemistry between the characters became genuine...
I spent hours and hours researching their myth and Greek customs and History, and became more and more enthralled with the story.
And so now.. we have Punderworld.
