Mad Men 2x03 Full Reaction

Comments

Total misreading of Betty.. yes sometimes she can be sympathetic but they always treat her as a victim all the time. Sometimes, yes… but she also has major issues as well; she’s manipulative, she’s a very cold person, especially to her children, she’s self-absorbed/narcissistic and a lot of her issues sometimes can be very superficial. Don isn’t the greatest all the time either but he went through actual trauma growing up. They don’t give each other what they need and are unhappy. Thats what’s great about the show, no character is perfect or full “victims,” they’re complex.

That is a good story about the 2 actors (and a good pic). My daughter is about your age and she loved Doctor Who. "profoundly sad" -- he read Betty.

I am JEALOUS of that picture! Never feel embarrassed at loving the Vincent Van Gogh episode of "Doctor Who". Anybody who doesn't cry at Bill Nighy's closing monologue is nobody I want to know. I'm a big fan of Utz potato chips. To me they taste like POTATO CHIPS, instead of 'processed potato product'. Not too greasy, not too salty, just all-around solid quality. A 12.5% raise honestly is a pretty good raise by itself ($25 in 1962 is equal to around $250 now, so that's equivalent to an extra $13,000 per year), but the way Roger just so easily lies to Harry as he gives it underscores his general dishonesty. Roger lies straight to his face, and doesn't even hesitate for a second. This is the first time we see Don be pursued by a woman, instead of him pursuing her. It's just a little bit more uncomfortable and off-putting, which I think really highlights how 'normal' we take men pursuing women even in circumstances that we otherwise disapprove of. Regarding Ellen DeGeneres and her TV show, she came out publicly in 1997, and then shortly afterwards the character she played (Also named Ellen, in the TV series also named "Ellen") came out in the show. It was seen as a watershed moment in gay representation in USA TV, but faced massive backlash. The show was cancelled the next season, Ellen herself faced a career downturn, and Laura Dern (Who guest starred in the episode where Ellen came out) said she couldn't get another job for a year and a half. So even in 1997 it was a death knell for a TV show to star a main character.
