Denji tells Power that her speech is creepy because in Japanese she speak like a old men. The author did this to emphasize that even though Power appears to be a young woman, she is still a demon possessing a corpse.

Personnaly I think of Chainsaw Man as being a manga/anime "disguised" as an action shonen anime. I'm not really sure what its true genre is beneath the disguise as I'm not well versed in genres, so I'd call it a "Fujimoto work" beneath as I find all his works to have some kind of common theme/feeling.

It's harder to say which episodes you should watch together in the next few episodes, but I would definitely watch 6 and 7 together, and 8 and 9.

I think the show lays out what it’s doing, so when those ‘moments’ come it’s a logical extension of the set up. It’s not like ‘wow this was out of nowhere’. I’ve watched LM long enough to know they pay attention to these things and not just plot and hype moments, so I was pretty sure they would like it.

I only read Chainsaw Man Part 1 too (Season 1 - Movie - Season 2). Part 2 (Season 3 - 5) seems to be so different, that I'm able to wait until it's finished to continue :D

What I most admire about CSM is that Fujimoto isn't afraid to give his female characters some actual crazy. In a lot of other anime, I feel that authors usually try to play it safe with female characters to make them more palatable to a mainstream male audience, but Fujimoto writes his characters like they're actual people on stimulants and I love that sm. And we love traumatized consent king Denji.

It will definitely not end up like cyber punk for 2 reasons. 1. This show focuses on characters unlike cyberpunk 2. This show will have many seasons which help You get more attached to characters. Cyberpunk only had 10 episodes.

Counting me as someone very upset with how Nakayama was treated after his beautiful work on season 1, one would hope that the massive downgrade in visual fidelity and detail apparent in the movie's trailers would allow them to pump out a new season much faster than 2027. But that's probably wishful thinking. Also lightly push back on "japanese fans not liking it at all" being the reason they pushed Nakayama out, certainly there were fans all over the world who had complaints about the style, I think the primary factor was making him the fall-guy for the poor blu-ray sales in comparison to the contemporary JJK season 2 which broke sales records for MAPPA. Thankfully the happy ending to all this is that Nakayama landed on his feet as the leader of his own studio, one where he's proud not to be working his staff on insane unrealistic deadlines.

Since what you care about in shows are the characters, I knew you would like it. The characters in this show are great. I mean it's only 4 episodes for now but there is no way it's going to end up like cyberpunk for you like some people have said.

For clarification: - Season 1 - Movie (2025 in theaters, 2026 on Crunchyroll) - Season 2 (probably 2027) - Seasons 3-5 (after that) :D And now a little bit about the production: Season 1 was directed by Ryū Nakayama. Fujimoto is a film nerd, which why his manga panels have a very cinematic feel and also reference well-known scenes from films and series. Ryū Nakayama therefore aimed for an animation style similar to Hollywood films, with calm cinematic scenes and heavy body movements, virtually no exaggeration or deforming representation of characters, similar to what you know from Fullmetal Alchemist, for example, where Edward is briefly drawn with four tentacle arms and a very cartoonish face to create a funny scene. Japanese fans were angry because they didn't like it at all. The movie, which will be released in theaters in two months, therefore has a different director. This will be an interesting experience for many fans, because many cannot clearly determine what influence the director has on the anime. We also had a director change between Attack on Titan season 3 and season 4, but we also had a time jump, a character design change, an animation studio change, and a genre change. It's difficult to point the finger at something and say, “That was the director's work” :D

Yeah, I figured you would like the show a lot. I said before that it feels like people treat sensitive material in animation as if it is somehow 'more' explicit than in live action or something. Like, there's definitely a conversation to be had about how some anime portrays or explores sexual themes or otherwise, but I feel like you could *also* say that about plenty of live action shows too lmao. Anyway, I'm not a manga reader (though I have unfortunately been spoiled on a few things) and I really liked this show, and am looking forward to whatever else it has in store.

Yes! I knew this show would be right up your alley. Folks just aren't used to any kind of sexual content or themes that explore intimacy/lust or abuse in their shonen anime, they were being way overprotective of you guys imo.
