When did HBO announce they are doing a new show in the TLOU universe? I can't find the announcement. I know WBD recently split into two companies (film&TV and cable) and the WBD & HBO part might get sold again. Man I wish Apple just buy WBD&HBO even though they don't need it.

I always thought people complaining "wah wah the adaptation isn't like the source material ๐ ๐ " were being babies (or worse, active bad actors who just wanna harass women etc). There's definitely some of that, all adaptations must ADAPT the material for the new medium. But you can watch side-by-side videos of the game scenes and the show scenes and it immediately shows all the mistakes. In the game Ellie is tormented and a driving force behind the action, sweeping up everything in her wake. She's still a YOUNG 19yo, she's still VULNERABLE, but she isn't goofy... she's dangerous and worse, putting herself in danger, mourning her surrogate father in every moment. Yet still she has a sense of humour and a quiet hope, coaxed out by Dina, as their relationship evolves organically as they stalk their prey thru Seattle. The show obliterates this. The writing and direction choices make absolutely no sense. Can Craig Mazin write women? Why did game director Neil Druckman co-sign this? The mind boggles. It wouldn't surprise me if the show was cancelled (or unceremoniously wrapped up) in S3. I really think people are going to disconnect from the story moving forward based on the choices made, and where the story has to go in S3. HBO announced Craig Mazin is developing 'new shows set in the expanded Last of Us universe'.... they're literally trying to The Walking Dead style franchise the IP lol.... abby please take me on a golfing trip...
