Haikyuu for me is like The Wire, two completely different shows but I knew that they would be perfect for the Girls and it didn't disappoint. A lovely rollercoaster with you two, Thank you!

Since the beginning we got hints of where we could go. And even in that episode there is a very telling line said by one character. But hey you're going to see all of that in the fifth season we have to believe they are going to make it!!

Looking forward to your tears (please bring tissues haha) for the Nekoma vs Karasuno movie!! Also excited to see your future reactions to other animes where you can adopt more kids haha (if you're looking for very long series, One Piece is at the top of my mind + if you're looking for shorter, the likes of Wind Breaker and Mob Psycho 100 come to mind).

Loved the haikyuu reactions and can't wait for the movie reaction!

I want to see more of these. I'm happy to wait until 2028 if it means I get 25 episodes. And it's really funny that both of them couldn't guess any of the matches yet. :D

After this 2nd movie that comes out this or next year people are begging for a season 5 right after to wrap the story up properly, but Instead it looks like we could get a 3rd movie which scares people because if that’s the case it would be very rushed.

2025-05-26 23:48:44 +0000 UTCGoing to miss having new haikyuu reactions every couple days. It's been a joy to watch you fall in love with it, am so happy it clicked better than I could have expected. You spent a lot of the review trying to predict the movies+extra, and I think it will be better for everyone to speculate after the 2nd movie. Also mentioned towards the end about how people feel about the manga. All I will say is I don't think I can list many other stories that wrap things up as well as haikyuu did. It's just love letter after love letter after love letter, so I totally get why people are worried that even the smallest of extra scenes might not make the cut.

Considering that you 2 really value the emotional weight of the match, I just know the movie will not disappoint you!

2025-05-26 23:07:33 +0000 UTCSeconding Run with the Wind and Ping Pong as fantastic follow-ups! It's been so much fun to re-watch Haikyuu through these reactions. And to be fair, the Haikyuu movie isn't *bad* (in fact I'd say they did a good job, considering how much content they were forced to cram into 80 minutes)... but knowing the manga exists definitely makes the movie worse haha. I'm personally glad the movie exists, as opposed to stopping the anime completely, but I'll always be sad that business reasons robbed us of a full Nekoma season :-/

There is roughly 25% more story left that continues to flesh out the interpersonal relationships of the characters and where they're going, and the author somehow even manages to end everything satisfyingly. For the love of god, put on some Yuki Hayashi music and go read it. You'll ball your eyes out. Unfortunately for us, the bastards with the money are too busy animating seasons for slop of the month garbage and half-baked movies that look pretty but fast-forward through the plot. If you want to go see them, go see them, but do not think for a second that they are a sufficient replacement for the source material. Go read the manga, right now. If you're looking for shows with a similar emotional sentiment, watch "Run with the wind" and/or "Ping pong the animation". They are short, sweet and hit you like a ten ton truck the way stories surrounding sports seem to be uniquely able to do. Finally, thanks LM for letting us re-experience this show through your fresh eyes and unique perspectives.
