The finale arc of Vinland Saga is so damn good that I almost wish they'd skip season 3 and just produce season 4. xD

2025-04-14 19:14:05 +0000 UTCI watched frieren 1x13 this week. In that you've asked about when will Vinland Saga season 3 air. No spoilers. Feel free to read ahead. Well there is some clarity about things now. Today is april,13th 2025, 20th anniversary of Vinland Saga Manga. Coming back to season 3 anime. Season 2 was announced about 18 or 19 months after season 1 finished. And season 2 aired nearly after same amount of time (18 months) after its announcment was made. 36 months was total amount of time between two seasons. It's been 20 months since season 2 has aired, we still have no confirmation about season 3. This is most likely because manga is in final leg. There is very high chance that it will conclude this year. Give or take 7-8 chapters are more remaining. Usually Yukimura (author of Vinland Saga) comes a chapter every month. However sometimes it may be possible that he will publish chapter after two months, because story deserves that amount of time and care to be told. Chapter 217 was published in Jan 2025. And chapter 218(latest chapter) in March. So he is taking his time to tell his story which I feel grateful for. Waiting for chapter a month or for two months is painful but worth it. And I cannot wait to binge read final arc all at once as well. I do think both experiences of reading it month after month and all at once together will vary a bit. I expect final arc to end on chapter 225. Do not search for anything related to it, you'll get spoiled real bad. Manga authors usually get consulted when anime is in production. Yukimura has stated for sometime now that he intends to focus solely on ending the vinland saga manga before taking on any other projects. And I think its good that it is this way. We know what happened with game of thrones ending and GRRM never completing his song of ice and fire books. Let Yukimura tell his story first and anime will follow-up. There is a very small chance that season 3 can be already in production. If it gets announced in by July this year, you can expect it to come in second half or near end of 2026. Otherwise, I am sorry to say, it may not get to us before 2027. Hey, I've been reading Vinland Saga for 10 years now. Started it in dec 2014. I've grown up with this story, yet it feels that everything went by so fast. I know 2027 far away but we'll have frieren for half of 2026. Looking back we may not even realize how fast this time flew by. Also looking forward to last of us season 2 reactions. <3
