Agreed. Basically, the next preview of this series is a joke, sometimes it is a character's monologue, sometimes it is not a preview, and sometimes Ein speaks. It is worth watching, even after you have finished watching the series.

The title of this episode comes from the 1968 song by the Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil". A great song.
This is the first episode to give a glimpse at the history of the fictional world they have established: That explosion of the hyperspace gate devastated the Earth, which is why Mars is now the wealthiest planet in the solar system. I'm not sure if it is ever stated in the series itself or only in supplemental materials, but the destruction was so severe that the population of the entire solar system is only 1.5 billion people in the "present". That's 1/4 of the real-world population of the Earth at the time the series was made.
I get why you don't watch the "Next time" teasers at the end of each episode, and it's probably a good idea to avoid spoilers, but the teaser in this episode for the next episode is HILARIOUS. Because the title is "Heavy Metal Queen" there's loud heavy metal music playing, and none of the characters can hear each other over the soundtrack.

You should watch the last episode of this series and then watch the first episode again.
Watching the first episode after knowing everything about it will make you feel differently than the first time you saw it.

It's complex in its simplicity

Spike being very interested in and "freeing" someone literally trapped in time. Worth thinking about!

Thats the thing with Bebop. It IS complex. Every single episode is thematically important.

This show is not THAT complex but many people fail to understand on the first watch the substance it has but you girls have done an amazing job at feeling out the underlying writing until now.
After 6 episodes the premise of Cowboy Bebop seems to have taken more shape. Overall, the show is quite episodic which feels very nostalgic considering most shows nowadays are a continuous story were every scene has plot progression and all "filler" is cut. At the same time, last episode has shown us more of what is considered "plot" - Spike's past with Vicious. This episode has presented us with the environment in which our show takes place and makes us question what has happened in order for such a disaster to have taken place on Earth. What implications did this have on space advancements and travel and what has become of Earth in present time?
This show is a slow drip of information which reveals the past of our heroes and their environment. The person that compared it somewhat to Frieren is actually very right.

I bet the child you're reminded of from another anime is Selim/Pride from FMA Brotherhood. He is both similarly inhuman while appearing as a child, and has a similar design with dark hair and a suit.
