The director of this show is extremely intentional, going as far as writing some of the story and making the animations after the music was written, to better fit the tone of the show. With that said, the movie was made after the show and written in such a way that it's meant to be a send off for the characters. None of the director's other shows received movies, meaning he truly wanted to cap off this experience with one final adventure. Watch it after you finish the show. It has better animation, better world building, and the music gives you a great last impression of these characters you'll always remember.

Chronological order is proper for reactions - and capping off the experience with the movie gives them one last adventure after the sadness of the series coming to an end.

2025-02-01 23:20:04 +0000 UTCI completely disagree. I think it’s a perfect fit to watch AFTER the series. The movie came out well after the series ended and thematically and tonally, it knows that. It’s a lovely conclusion to the gang, after all has been said and done in the show.

Also if we're prioritizing movies, I'd still put Godfather 2 (although I haven't seen it) and especially Goodfellas over Bebop movie. It's a good movie if you want more Bebop, but Goodfellas is just an awesome movie that I think any Sopranos fan will love. It's a pacier watch than Godfather that has a more comedic, punchy tone similar to early Sopranos.
