@Eli I would have loved to see other shows too, like Kotaro lives alone or Kids on the slope. But we sadly don't live in a dictatorship and have to accept the opinions of other patreons. And I think popular shows are important too. If they would only watch shows, that 100 people know and enjoy, then the number of Patreons would drop immensely.

Imma say it with my whole chest again. BANANA. FIISH.
Most criminally underated anime I swear, purely because people don't know about it.
Would actually recommend A Place Further than the Universe as well though for the happy vibes of it all, as going from Frieren to BA would be a shock to the system.
Not looking forward to saying goodbye to Frieren Fridays :(

Run with the Wind, Yuri on Ice, and Given really should be shows you guys look at watching. They're exactly what you love, but only Yuri was popular and it came out too long ago for most people to think about. All are short shows, all are full of boys you will love and adopt.

I really hope 86 will get on LM's radar to watch because it'll be interesting to see them react to the story, the characters, the masterful transitions, the amazing music!!

Odd Taxi has a very unique way of telling its story, which makes the first 3 episodes seem a bit boring, but on rewatch they show how good they are. Try again later, it took me two tries too.

I guess, I just watched 2ep and I couldn't get into it so I'm not that interested that's all. It may be good though I'll try again at some point

@Clay The problem is, there are a lot of Ghibli movies. I have therefore simply put in the 6 most popular ones and the last one in the list.

My kids liked Howl's Moving Castle. I've wanted to watch Princess Mononoke to check it out.
A Ghibli Movie I took my kid to see in the theater when released was "The Secret World of Arrietty" (2010) -- I thought was good.

I wish Eighty Six was a bit more popular. It gave me heavy Attack on Titan vibes when I first watched. It would be fun to see LM go through that journey

Yeah, I mentioned, that the first Episode has a very uncomfortable scene. I also think it wouldn't be the best anime for the next poll. But It is in the Top 25/27, so it's in the ranking. And it's not my fault it was voted :D

seconding Dandadan specifically, i was finding it mostly enjoyable with some things that were less to my taste then it hit me with maybe the best episode of anime i've ever seen

The results of the anime short poll are here. This time I've included over 100 anime in the list that fit into the Short Anime Reaction slot. Since it's a lot closer this time, I'll give a completely spoiler-free short description of the Top 27 (Top 25 + Movies). You can then decide what you want to put in the poll or if you just want to start with something.
Note: You should take a complete look at the top 20, as some people have voted multiple times, whether by changing VPN or device. I have therefore analyzed the data again in more detail, but the top 20 remain identical with the order a little mixed up: https://imgur.com/a/vGI2GqY
1. Anime Movies: A Silent Voice, Look Back, Your Name, Wolf Children, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, Suzume
These are 6 very popular anime movies and therefore each of them is a self-contained story. As they are each longer than a normal anime episode, a full reaction is completely sufficient. However, we would be happy about a separate pre-discussion / post-discussion video, which could theoretically also be released on YouTube, in which you can point out that the Reaction is only on Patreon.
2. Ghibli Movies: Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, The Boy and the Heron
Ghibli is a very well-known anime studio because of their movies. They have their very own style and often stand out by being thrown into a world that is barely explained. You may have watched some of them as a child, but as long as you can barely remember the movie, this shouldn't be a problem. As before, the movies are longer, so a full reaction is sufficient.
3. Psycho Pass (Season 1)
Psycho-Pass is one of the few big anime without a manga or book template. The story arc, which is told to its conclusion in the first season with its 22 episodes, is extremely popular and highly recommended.
There is also a second season, a few movies and a third season, but these were not as well liked by fans as the first season. The subsequent seasons and movies can easily be featured in future polls if there is interest in a reaction to them. These make up another 22 episodes and 5 movies. But: Almost all things that remained open in the first season also remain open in the later seasons and movies.
4. Odd Taxi
Odd Taxi with 13 episodes is a very unique anime that stands out from the crowd, both for its visuals and its narrative. The story is told to its conclusion. Baku Kinoshita also won Best Director for it at the Crunchyroll Awards in 2022.
5 Your Lie in April
An anime with 24 episodes, which tells a completely self-contained story. The anime was also in the poll with Cyberpunk, Violet Evergarden and Ranking of Kings. This one could perhaps win this time.
6. Banana Fish
25 episodes, self-contained story. The anime has already been recommended to you several times and was also in the last poll, although unfortunately, like the others, it couldn't win against Frieren. This anime certainly deserves another chance.
7. Chainsaw Man
This anime is already the spiritual successor to Jujutsu Kaisen for Mappa. It currently has 12 episodes and will soon receive a movie that tells the next story arc in its entirety. In total, this anime will surely get three/four more seasons in the next 10 years. It's a longer story. To be honest, I would wait, at least until season 2 has been announced and is close to release.
8. Pluto
Pluto is by the same author as Monster, and although it's not one of his Top 3 manga stories (20th Century Boys anime when?!), still arguably one of the best anime out there. The anime is short with 8 episodes (Netflix production), but the episodes are also longer than 20 minutes. The story is completely told.
9. A Place Further Than The Universe [Happy Show]
Like Frieren, this anime is a Madhouse production, extremely lovingly animated and tells a beautiful self-contained story about a group of girls becoming friends through an adventure. It's 13 episodes long.
10. Steins;Gate
Steins Gate has 25 episodes, has been in polls practically since Death Note. It tells a completely self-contained story and is considered a classic for its genre.
Although there is still a “second season”, it tells a completely different story. I asked around on Patreon and Discord before I made this poll and most people seemed to want Steins Gate Zero as a separate recommendation.
A little warning: Sexist phrases and scenes similar in Death Note appear from time to time in this anime.
11. Dororo (2019)
Dororo is actually a very old anime, which was remade in 2019 with a few changes to the original story. It also tells a self-contained story in 24 episodes. Very popular story!
12 Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop is an old classic with 26 episodes and anime history. The story is finished in these 26 episodes. In your last poll with Frieren, this one took second place.
13. Bocchi The Rock [Happy Show]
Bocchi the Rock is a 12-episode anime. It adapts 21 chapters of the manga, which is currently around 80 chapters long. However, Seasons 2 to 4 are a long time coming, which means that the story is still relatively open. The anime convinces with a lot of humor, heartfelt moments. It is about a group of girls playing in a band.
14. Eighty Six: 86
Eighty Six: 86 has 23 episodes and adapts the first 3 books. There are another 10 books that may be adapted in the future, but nothing has been announced about this. Fans also feel that the end of the anime is the perfect point to end the story.
15. Erased
Erased has 12 episodes in which it tells the story of the manga in a very compact way. The first half in particular is praised as a masterpiece. The story is told in its entirety, but the anime has changed the ending slightly.
16. Ping Pong The Animation
With the Haikyuu fans, Ping Pong is now also getting attention. In its 11 episodes, this sports anime tells a completely different story compared to Haikyuu and is often even higher in many rankings. Highly recommended!
17. Evangelion
Evangelion, like Cowboy Bebop, is a really old classic. It is from the anime studio Gainax and therefore also has the typical Gainax ending. If you've ever watched a Gainax anime, you probably know what I mean. In addition to its 26 episodes, it also has 5 more movies to watch. It's the longest Short Anime on this poll.
A little warning: Scenes similar in Death Note appear from time to time in this anime.
18. Dungeon Meshi [Happy Show]
Dungeon Meshi and Frieren were the anime of 2023/2024 that saved the fanatsy genre in anime format. It has 24 episodes, but will get a final second season in the next 2 years to finish the story. Production has already been publicly announced, as with Frieren.
19. Tatami Galaxy
Similar to Odd Taxi, here we have a very unique anime with 11 episodes in length. Very highly ranked, but has hardly any reactions on YouTube so far. You would be the first big Reaction YouTuber to watch it.
20. Dandadan
Dandadan is THE anime for Fall Season 2024. It contains 12 episodes and adapts around the first 30 chapters of the manga, with the manga heading towards 200 chapters. So you can expect another 6 seasons. The writing is unique, the animation style is great and the animation quality is probably some of the best out there. But the humor is very juvenile (cock, balls, ...).
A little warning: The first episode has a very uncomfortable scene.
21. The Promised Neverland (Season 1)
This anime was one of the most popular anime of 2019 and tells an incredibly good story in its 12 episodes, which adapt the first 37 chapters of the 181-chapter-long manga. Unfortunately, there was never a second season (there is no second season in Ba Sing Se). However, what the first story arc tells can also be seen as a self-contained story that leaves open what happens after this major hurdle is overcome.
22. Madoka Magica
Madoka Magica initially consists of 12 episodes. After that, you should watch 2 movies, one of which is released in 2013 (Movie 3) and the other in 2025 (Movie 4, Crunchyroll release probably in October/November). There are two more movies (1 and 2 in the numbering), but these are simply retellings of the 12 episodes, similar to the first 3 Haikyuu movies.
Kiriko in particular is a big fan of the anime :D
23. Blue Box [Happy Show]
Another sports anime, this time a very different story from Haikyuu or Ping Pong, with a strong focus on love life during high school. The 25-episode anime, the first season, which has only been broadcast since October, will adapt the first 80 chapters. The manga is currently 176 chapters long and will most likely end with 300 to 400 chapters, i.e. 4 to 5 seasons with 25 episodes each. I don't think it's wrong to wait a bit with this anime until season 3 or 4 has been released. But then it will also be a long anime.
24. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
This anime is not known to many, but is extremely popular in its genre. It tells a very moving story in its 24 episodes. Critics have praised the strong underlying narrative to gorgeous direction and top-tier performances.
25. Death Parade
Like Psycho Pass, Death Parade is an anime original without a template. It tells a very interesting story in a supernatural setting in 12 episodes. Expect dark psychological stories.
26. Made in Abyss
Made in Abyss tells a pretty unique story in its 2 seasons (25 episodes) and one movie so far. But the manga is far from finished and the release is very slow, so we can expect a third season in a few years, which might not even finish the story.
27. Rainbow Nisha
Rainbow Nisha is a 26-episode long anime. Unfortunately, it only adapts the first half of the manga, but still has a very good ending. A second season is very unrealistic after almost 20 years.
It is an extremely traumatic anime with a lot of suffering, very hard to bear as a viewer, even though it is hopeful and dreamy. I highly recommend continuing with the manga from chapter 104 to at least chapter 157 (covering about 13 episodes of story) after finishing the anime to complete an important subplot.
---------------------------------------
Since you’re probably looking for something more cheerful to balance out Monster, I’d suggest holding off on Happy Shows like A Place Further Than The Universe for now. They’d be perfect for a Summer/Fall 2025 poll, so you don’t end up watching two not so cheerful anime at the same time :D
