It's because shonen just sells better even if it does fit into the other categories better almost everyone trys to publish under Shonen because of the sells from what I understand

But Fern lost her parents at an early age and had to care for Heiter, who took her in, from a very young age, so her “childhood” was very short. Even on the trip with Freelen, Fern took care of Freelen like a mother, and with Stark's participation, she finally started to act her age. Fern looks like an adult, but she is a child in the process of growing up. He is a child who cannot explain the reason for his anger and can only express it in a grumpy manner, and can only be honest when an adult is in between.

2024-10-19 03:05:13 +0000 UTCI feel so bad for Stark all the time. He's basically never done anything wrong but is always the one to apologize. Even when Fern comes to realize she's wrong and needs to communicate her thoughts and to listen to Stark's side of things, the focus is always on him saying he's sorry, and then Fern will do the angry silent pouting thing again after a few episodes anyway, so no lesson is learned. If Stark wasn't so earnest and forgiving this relationship would never work, because any regular person would be so done with Fern after a year of this pattern. The worst thing that's been done between them intentionally was Fern looking at him naked without his consent, and even that was treated as humor with no apology.

Little baby Fern, the rock she manage to blow a hole in, the butterfly hairpiece, which then the butterfly floats off from, as if to signify Fern passes. Frieren in a little dark tunnel, before she takes another long adventure to heaven and there Fern with angel wings (alongside Himmel symbolically with the flower from his hometown) wait for her, and Frieren lying on Fern’s lap that’s where Fern’s gravestone was. Can’t. Stop. Crying.

The part that gets me the most is that I think the grave she's resting on is Fern's future grave. That's why it ends in the same spot, but she's resting her head on Fren's lap like she does 😭❤️

I don't know how the Japanese see it, but this division into target groups should probably be abandoned soon, as it clearly no longer works :D

After laying down on her grave she once again remembers all the time with warmth and love she spent with Fern. That ending struck me hard the first time I saw it. Also a detail most people don't notice is that Stark doesn't feature in it at all because Stark is truly unforgettable.
