Yes I got from this that Gio has never been to Quebec. The Conservatives in Quebec 100% see themselves as a Nation. The Current premier ran on reducing immigration because it would be more then can be assimilated to some extent. eu simply does not accomplish function of protecting "european" countries. Also large differences between euros. And more importantly, it's silly idea at first that every1 will throw in and get equal protection etc. End up with what you have now, same as in "border towns", designated zones, leakage. And eventually vineyard gambits, so on and so forth. I guess idealistic approach is that it is "possible" that it could work, but necessary conditions for it working are not there and not possible without large, sweeping changes in nations that would break the EU anyway.
