There are already 47 episodes and a movie which is a decent amount but it wouldn't take them long in a way that steals the spotlight from other shows that people are interested in. I guess I'm just really interested in their thoughts on the show.

Rok is "completed" are at least it's not going to have another season from i've heard, so it's not the same. Ofc i'm not the one to decide which shows they can put in the poll so if they'll put frieren i'll have nothing to say about it. I really did not write this to sound rude or anything, i just know that the girls prefer to watch shows when s2 is around the corner, that's why it can wait considering that all the others shows that people recommend are actual shorts shows since they're completed. But ofc i understand completely that people want them to watch frieren now because it may not have another season for years. It's just that frieren is very popular and they will eventually watch it while all the other short anime are not so a few of them may never had a reaction. That's why i want them to have more chance let's say. But rereading my comment, i can see that it sounding like a complaint, which was not my intention. English is definitely not my first language, so i phrased weirdly sometimes and i'm sorry if my comment sounded rude.

2024-06-10 04:50:25 +0000 UTCI really want them to watch Freiren and wouldn't be mad at all if it won, BUT I do feel like including something like that in a "short" show category is a little weird when it's going to have more seasons. It would roughly be the same watchtime as RoK so it's valid enough, and it will probably be a while before we get more seasons, and it does make sense on that front. But I wouldn't classify Frieren as a "short" show personally. And I'd love for some truly short shows - like Erased, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, or Oddtaxi - to have more of a chance too.

For example, I didn't fuss when HxH was picked, but I certainly don't think that gives me more deciding power than someone who DID want HxH reactions. I'm not saying that Frieren shouldn't be an option, but I don't think you should be framing this like you did people a favor by not complaining while LM watched a 20-something episode show. If that were a thing, I think the folks who have been waiting longer then you for their preferred shows might have seniority. 😅

2024-06-09 23:12:49 +0000 UTCThis could be a hot take but I really don’t think they’d like banana fish. *spoilers below*. I watched banana fish a few years ago and it was not an easy watch. If you watch a lot of their reactions you know how much they value children and they straight up show child r*pe in it. I know it’s only on a video tape but it’s sickening to watch. In general the child sex ring is a big part of the story. They’ve also mentioned that they think r*pe in fictional stories is almost always pointless and just cruel and they don’t like watching it. If they had to watch it where it constantly talked about child sex rings I think they would hate it. Sexual assault seems to happen to ash constantly as well. Also *MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING* they really hate when characters have pointless deaths. Or sometimes for a character arc to be complete they have to die. Obviously this is not always the case but most of the time they don’t like it. I think that’s one of the problems they had with cyberpunk. I think Ash’s ending was cruel imo. I don’t think they would like his story end after all of the cruelty he had to suffer just for it to end like that. I know a lot of people enjoy the anime but I think it really wouldn’t sit right with them.

And him saying that he grows thanks to her while she manipulates him for years.. Plus, he has the mirror since forever so she raised him in a way... And Daida wants to marry her? All of this is just so wrong... She killed Boji mom in cold blood and everyone is there, feeling pity for her because she suffered in the past. Wtf. It's not because you suffer in the past that you can now do awful things. I cannot believe that they just decided to save Miranjo instead of Ouken. And Bosse was clearly the one who persuaded Daida to do so, he showed him all the horrors that miranjo went through to make him feel sad for her. And all the wrongness that she did to Daida? We just gonna ignore that? Ep 18, now this... It's too much for me.

I get why people really want you to react to it but other people (like me lol) have been asking for others shorts animes for longer and they are all completed one. Like erased, banana fish, psycho-pass, pluto... I just think that Frieren can wait since it's unfinished, at least until s2 something like that, the hype will still be there. Honestly, if the season wasn't 28 episodes long i'll be more okay with it but having to wait until next year for another anime that is an actual short show is a bit long ngl. Ofc it's just my opinion it's your channel so do what you want to do.

I can see how you can headcanon well we didn't SEE the marriage yet a few months later in the manga or them explicitly being romantic so maybe it never happened, but I think when you have a 12 year old asking for marriage from someone that seems to be 30+ that watched over and manipulated him since he was even younger it should be explicitly stated.

Watching the OVA’s and then later chapters in the manga it shows it’s not a romantic marriage, Daida married her to put her in his protection in the event of any retaliation against Miranjo. I think this episode specifically had everyone emotional for everything that was going on and all the character reunions and that energy weirdly overlapped with the marriage proposal that was done for political purposes.

I view it as the studio just having the decency to not show them outright being romantic at least. I'd need more than just well we didn't explicitly see them kiss or anything and we're not shown their wedding yet so maybe it never happens. In ep 23 them showing a parallel with Hiling and Dorshe, Miranjo blushing when Daida carries her in and in TCC 9.2 Miranjo saying she'll never leave Daida's side stop me from giving the creator the benefit of the doubt

I didn’t really know what they wanted to convey with those two characters, and they left me having to interpret it one way because the other way felt intensely problematic (even though they were kind of leaning into it being romantic anyways?).

Edit: It has nothing to do with this, but hopefully Chapter 180.5 will be adapted in the movie that's coming. Just love this scene.I'll keep flipping through the pages.

I'm not sure why Miranjo would need protecting when everyone who knows her identity seemingly immediately forgave her (I'm not sure if Bebin said he did but he also never really showed anger at her) and the rest of the population wouldn't know who she is. Also in the next episode him and Miranjo are directly paralleled with Hiling and Dorshe hinting at them having a future romance

2024-06-08 23:40:24 +0000 UTCThe last 6 episodes unfortunately didn't conclude the story of Miranjo and Bosse so well, which is why the anime didn't completely explode in popularity. I had only finished watching the anime after it won the poll (I had stopped at episode 8/9 due to lack of time at the time in 2022). It's a great show and love pretty much all the characters, but it certainly could have been better. It reminds me a bit of Wonder Egg Priority, although there the plot crash was much more brutal.

2024-06-08 23:14:02 +0000 UTCIf I may spoil (manga spoilers for chapter 166+): . . . . . . . . They don't get married. There are no romantic feelings for each other, they live together in the castle. In the end, this was simply the best way to fend off criticism towards Miranjo in this situation. When I edited Ranking of Kings for my girlfriend, I had edited episode 22/23 with this knowledge so that Daida says that he wants to protect her and live with her in the castle instead of getting married. I think it's even saved in the same cloud as the episode 17.5 edit with "Better Subtitles". The shout-out about the marriage has something childishly amusing about it, of course, but I also thought it was just inappropriate with the whole situation with Ouken.

Watching it with you guys I tried to see that Daida marrying Miranjo is the way to protect her, who would attack the Queen right? But yeah she has to be at least 20. She grew up with Bosse + 9 months for boji to be born + time it took to find Hiling and have another kid
