2024-02-23 12:45:23 +0000 UTCThe beginning was really good, but after that it goes steadily downhill in my opinion. If they get a second season from Netflix, I really hope the producers go back to the last episode. Decisions were made there that are not good for the next part (or I misunderstood) 😕

2024-02-23 12:26:06 +0000 UTCI can give you a bit of a warning here. They did take that away from Sokka, but they focused more on a different trait of his and I liked that. They made a surprising amount of changes as I said and every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, it was completely different. That "Oh, they're doing that now?" was a surprisingly frequent thought. But as I said, at the end of many storylines I had the feeling: "That was cool, you can do it like that. But I liked the progression in the cartoon a bit better."

One thing that annoys me with it tho is how they didn’t include Jong Jong story which was a really important part of the cartoon for later seasons. And they removed Sokka’s sexism which was a big plot point in terms of his character development. Those two things give me worry that the show runners don’t understand the show.

It was great fun and there were more and far-reaching changes than I expected, which meant that as a viewer you couldn't really anticipate the end of a storyline. I'm in favour of the reaction to this. I have to be honest though, I do like most of the plot and dialogue in the cartoon more and it hit me harder emotionally. I'm curious to see how they react to the adaptation. However, there are big plus points as the live action has incorporated small elements from the comics and books into the story. I really hope that Avatar Studios will adapt them. I can very well imagine that the two of them finally want to know what happened to Zuko's mum, what Azula does after the end, what problems Kyoshi and Yangchen and their predecessors Kuruk and Szeto had to deal with and how they approached them.
