The situation was perhaps more serious than I (Alex) acknowledged at the time, in that the politicians were possibly in more danger than I thought, but I maintain that storming the Capitol is not a mechanism by which you can overthrow a government. Exert pressure? Yes. Take hostages? Yes. Perform a coup? No. Capitalism and the American government have a pretty firmly entrenched system by which any members of congress could be discarded without much of a hiccup.

With the benefit of information after the fact, I would still classify this, on some level, an attempted coup. Not everyone there was really trying to do that, but there were definitey 2 types of people in the crowd. Those who were just shambling around taking selfies, and those who clearly knew the layout, knew how to get in, and herded the first group through. I’m sure yall have seen the guy with a gun and zipties by now, that kind of shit. Still a good episode tho!
