FWIW I should mention that the Asian Carp issue is actually very serious. It's an invasive species which has had devastating ecological effects. If it gets into the Great Lakes, it'll be really bad. Unfortunately, they're in rivers which connect to the Great Lakes, so electrified barriers have been made to keep the fish out. That's pretty metal, tbh, but the issue is pretty important and does require some investment in order to not destroy the Great Lakes ecosystem. As a general rule, when you hear [continent]-[species] in North America, it's cause for alarm because it's an invasive species which will disrupt the ecosystem. Noting where an animal species comes from has nothing to do with any xenophobia.
