But, then again, the fact that you can't perceive the difference between both scenarios say a lot about how morally deranged you are, to the point you could literally defend a story revolving around a pedophile character.

Gaboxxy

I would say "Defending" (because I never morally justified her fixation with Gon, but whatever) the usage in the plot of a crazy young woman having a crush on a teenager for comedic relief is quite different from defending a story in which THE MAIN CHARACTER is quite literally a pedophile that is sexually attracted to young kids and yet the show expects us to relate to him and justify him. If he were just a side character that was used for comedy (and even then he would still be way worse than Palm) I could maybe get why people love the show, but that's not the case, he is literally the main character and he is supposed to be beloved both by us and by the characters in the story despite him being a literal, iredeemable pedophile.

Gaboxxy

We root for a group of villains that have commited literal genocide, yet having a crush on a teen is where we draw the line lol. "No one comes EVEN CLOSE" is a wild statement considering we've seen murder, genocide, monsters having nude people on leashes and treated as dogs, casual mutilation, kids being physically abused by adults, etc. Jonathan is right when he says she isn't even top 10 worst characters.

Gaboxxy

I'm not defending or justifying pedophiles. It's funny that you accuse me of this, considering that in your comment on this video, you yourself try to justify Palm with your 'suspension of disbelief'. Therefore, you're not exactly in a position to accuse me of anything similar. If you want to accuse someone then start for yourself.

refo44

Refo, you're literally defending an Anime that glorifies/justifies pedophilia to an inexcusable extent. Any opinion you might have not only about anime, but about anything at all is now completely invalid from the get-go. Like, if you claimed stealing is bad I will instantly become a thief just so I don't share any moral values with you, that's the extent I will ad-hominem you.

Gaboxxy

I promise you the whole palm x gon thing is over now so don’t worry! 😂 again, I’m gonna repeat myself but I just love the relationship between gon and killua, it’s just so pure ❤

léna

Her last scene is honestly beautiful.

Shivering King Banana

I have mixed feelings about the first season of Re:Zero, even considering the director's cut. While some moments were truly good and epic, others were totally awful and incoherent. However, Season 2 was absolutely phenomenal and awesome. And I'm sure S3 will be as good as S2 or even better. But you're right, I honestly don't recommend any fantasy isekai to LM, not even Konosuba.

refo44

Re:Zero is light years better than Mushoko, but I also don't have the courage to recommend this one to girls knowing that they wouldn't like a lot of the things there.

Wallas

This!!!

Wallas

Hisoka definitely is one lol, even more so if you take "child predator" on the most literal sense, as Hisoka quite literally "preys" on Gon, and ultimately wants to hunt him and kill him, he just needs him to "fatten" up a bit before that. In Palm's case yeah, I wouldn't precisely label her as such as in many way she is mentally a teenager like Gon, and her feelings for him seem to be more platonic than sexual. That said, if Palm existed in real life I would definitely be more jugdemental of her to say the least lol.

Gaboxxy

I think Killua can beat Rammot without removing the needle too, almost as easily. The only reason he was so lacking in this battle is because he was fighting a bigger one on the inside. Rammot thought he was getting the upperhand when in reality, Killua was giving him no mind and dealing with his problems. He wanted to prove to himself that he can manage to not run away, he was shaken by what Bisky said and all that was affecting his preformance. Once he dealt with his own inner battle, only then did he finally ackowledge Rammot and actually fight him. Maybe if this battle happened any other time, Killua would be dodging on the basis of running away, with an escape way in mind and still win the fight. Either way, I think removing this needle definitely made Killua stronger and capable of winning battles he otherwise can't, but I think its not big enough to drastically change his skill level

Rahaf

Not even top 10

Jonathan baez

I like how Lola shouted out the music in Killuas scene. The ending for Greed Island is a song called ‘Reason’ and it becomes Gon and Killuas ‘theme’ from that point on, at least in my mind. Its instrumental gets used as Killua breaks his curse and we see flashes of the two boys journey so far. Perfect song to represent the boys friendship.

Darrach

Baki is a terrible show. The plot is boring, the dialogues are bad, the fights doesn't makes any sense. It's just repetitive and absurd. Honestly I don't understand why people considered it interesting.

refo44

Ah true. Bizeff is worst.

MaxVSTheGames

I hate Bizeff more lmao but she's a strong second

Rahaf

"these child predators" loool neither of them is a child predator

Yū Nishinoya

Baccano would be actually cool for them to watch , and it's an anime that also appeals a lot to western audiences (especially if you are a fan of directors like Tarantino or Guy Ritchie). Another anime that would be interesting is Baki; I'm not sure if they'd like it, but it would definitely be interesting to see the reaction of two quite feminine women watching a show that deals with hyper-masculine themes.

Gaboxxy

And I don't know precisely what you mean with "Togashi himself wrote these characters with morals based on the real world". I mean, obviously it's impossible to create an entirely new moral system without taking into account an existing one, but it is still true that morality in HxH functions way different than in our universe, and characters don't function under the same worldviews, and that's something that caracterizes HxH even compared to other Shonen. I mean, the most beloved character in the show is a literal assasin that has killed thousands of people, yet we love him and most characters never seem to judge him much based on that. In the real world, I would never associate myself with a mass murdere, kid or not, and I bet you wouldn't either, but we accept Killua because either subcounsciously or consciously we understand we can't apply the same rules of our world to theirs. .We can agree to disagree, but I least I hope I got my point across.

Gaboxxy

Palm was definitely not intended to be depicted as an evil character, her fixation with Gon is simply used as comedic relief, which for western audiences doesn't work very well (obviously), but it's the same way western audiences can laugh at dark humour involving death and tragedy while that is very uncommon and disrespectful in Japan. It's just cultural differences; not saying one is better than the other, just saying they are different. I don't think you watched the entire anime and left with the conclusion that Palm was intended by Togashi to be perceived as "evil" or "bad", especially with how they develop her character later on. In Hisoka's case, well yeah, he is definitely portrayed as evil as he is a literal villain. . Edit: I should add that in South America, the region of the world I'm from, the whole Palm/Gon also never received much controversy either, we never thought much of it. I guess the general feeling behind it is something like: "Yeah, a young woman shouldn't be dating a teen, but a teen also shouldn't have quite literally a license to kill and shouldn't be sent alone to a world-rescuing mission with a bunch of eccentric adults in which he could die in the most horrific way, but here we are, let's not think too deep about this" lol.

Gaboxxy

Palm is 100% the worst character in HxH. No one comes even close.

MaxVSTheGames

Togashi himself wrote these characters with morals based on the real world. Come on now, these child predators are always portrayed as evil people in the show.

Anto

More than that, we "defend" them simply because it's a VERY fictional setting in which morality functions very different from our world. You have to suspend your disbelief, if you're gonna judge hxh characters with the same lenses you'd judge someone in the real world, then almost every single character in that universe is a piece of sh*t.

Gaboxxy

Palm and Hisoka are weirdos and two pieces of shit. You don't really need to justify them, there's just straight up horrible people in the HxH world. People defend those characters for the same reason people defend characters that have killed and tortured others, charisma. And even with that, I wouldn't say Palm is very charismatic, so I guess it's an attempt to not contradict themselves with Hisoka.

Anto

I'm not sure about One Punch Man because the jokes and humor from that anime is not for everyone. Usually Is more funny if you are a shonen anime fan and understand the tropes they are parodying. But maybe you are right because they love Mob and is from the same author so I don't know. Baccano could be a great recommendation.

refo44

Sorry but for me Rudeus is just child, I can't see him on any other way. The way he interact with his family and with his world is as a child learning to growth. The memories from his past life just are there to add the inner traumatic conflict but those memories doesn't define him as character or as a person or at least I'm unable to see him that way, and even one forget about his past life except when the god appears or when he remembers some past trauma. If as a child he start a relationship with an an adult that's is something I will definitely consider it pedophile. For example if he has a different relationship whith Ghislane. So I understand your point and also understand why people considered it that way and why is so polemic but i disagree to that view and really surprise me the first time I heard about that. And I want to be clear with this: I don't in any way condone nor forgive pedophiles characters. Usually authors from Isekais just avoid this kind of issues, or they do a timeskip to avoid this controversy and maybe that is a smart choice with this kind of reincarnation stories, maybe the problem with this author is that he focused too much on exploit controversial and unconfortable topics on this world and characters (The elf Elinalise and her curse is just another example on a different way). I haven't read the novels. But all the modern isekais are just copying the Mushoku Tensei books. That's the reason it seems to cliché but the true is this was the work who influenced all those others stories. The difference is that Mushoku Tensei have a deeper understanding of the psychology of characters. I disagree also about the second season. For me was good even if the animation was of less quality. It's all about how to keep going at life even when you deal with heartbreak, severe depression and PTSD. That's the reason also the pace is more slow than the first season. But even so I don't recommend this show for LM.

refo44

actually if I could choose next short anime it would be One-Punch man...I've been subscribed for 10 months and I'm still waiting for a 2nd show to follow (I've watched Ranking of kings and Black Sails but I'm not interested to their reactions to them)

Yū Nishinoya

Milena is definitely on point when she says that Killua loves Gon in an unhealthy way. Killua was raised in horrible conditions as a killing machine, with no friends and a shallow concept of "love". Gon was not only his first friend, but probably the first person outside of his world to not judge him based on his assasin background, so he naturally feels greatly indebted to him, but because he got more than he felt he deserved, his standards and expectations of a healthy friendship are much lower than most people because he literally has no experience in that realm outside his relationship with Gon. MINOR SPOILER AHEAD) . . . . .This arc is actually very important for Killua's character development, as he actually manages to make new friends and learns that his whole personality doesn't need to necessarily be tied to his friendship with Gon. He learns he doesn't have to be co-dependant of Gon and his goals, and that a friendship goes both ways.

Gaboxxy

Baccano! is a masterpiece 😄

Yū Nishinoya

I mean yeah, it's a representation of trauma and abusive/controlling upbringing in general, but Illumi did literally implant a needle in him.

Gaboxxy

Not that hard to believe. Yeah, Killua is very perceptive, but he's still not even near the level of Illumi now, let alone when he was a young kid; there were also many instances in this arc where Kite could instantly sense danger and enemies nearby whereas Killua didn't even notice, so it's not like he is inmune to being caught off guard. Besides, the needle is probably made of Nen anyway so Killua most likely couldn't even see it coming, as he did not know nen at the time.

Gaboxxy

she does become likeable

Guilherme Marques

I actually never felt uncomfortable with the Palm/Gon scenes; I've seen so much weird stuff and Anime that I just suspend my disbelief automatically, but now that you're all pointing it out yeah, it's weird to say the least lol. .That said, even though I obviously don't justify Palm's action, we also have to understand that Palm is a very mentally unstable girl and her feelings for Gon are more on the platonic side, rather than her straight up feeling sexually attracted to a teen.

Gaboxxy

Nah, she doesn’t. At best she becomes helpful but that’s it lol

Jack SV

Nameless

"masterpiece" It's carried by the great animation team, the story is just isekai trash following an irredeemable pedophile (he gropes children multiple times throughout the show btw, don't hit me with that "redemption arc" BS) I don't hate it though, the first season was good. But, it's only good DESPITE having a pedophile MC, and it gets boring after the first season

Billy Overlord

Mushoko Tensei It's a masterpiece: It has awesome characters arcs, animation, world-building, and it's the best isekai to date, but it's definitely not for LM

refo44

when he says "give them time to conclude their business" I think he is talking about Morel and Knuckle

Yū Nishinoya

of corse they never gonna watch that shit lol

Wallas

The way you guys react to Palm, means we’re never getting a Mushoku Tensei reaction 😭 Because if you think that’s bad….lmao

SoClose

I genuinely enjoyed making it, I'll probably make one after Black Sails ends to ask people their favourite character, scenes etc.

TeaDrinker3000

this actually gives quite a bit of insight into things like the voting polls and its winners, and stuff like that.

ODIS

If you remember from episode 20 where its Killua vs Illumi during the hunter exam, Illumi says "Never fight an enemy you can't beat. I drilled that into you." @ 18:16 (timestamp) while he's stretching his arm out towards Killua's head. Foreshadowing. This show is TOO DAMN GOOD!!!

Jessica Sutherland

I gotta say, i really love the Zoldyck dynamic. Illumi’s love for Killua is so twisted and disturbing, but it’s real. Protecting your brother in such a violating and toxic way.. just goes to show how unique that family is. Toxic Family Enjoyers will get the appeal.

jweher

Great character development for Killua. Now I think that was an actual physical needle. The real question is when did Ilumi put a needle on Killua without him noticing? Killua is a very cautious character and only a few characters can overcome his senses so I wonder if that needle was something he put on him when he was little. The Palm stuff is so cringe and a wasted of time for this arc tbh. Great reaction like always!

Jack SV

Palm's a weirdo, and her scenes are uncomfortable. I still wish more people noticed the way her teacher Knov spoke to her. I'm glad you girls did. He's manipulating a mentally ill young girl who he's supposed to be teaching. It's no surprise she doesn't know how to act. Not only is she unwell, she has a controlling manipulator as a teacher.

Shivering King Banana

This arc really has the absolute best and worst of HxH. It's messy and that adds to its charm for me, although I do wish the author had cut certain things like the Palm date. Just a horrifically cringy, unfunny way for her character to be presented. At least we're past it now.

Nonam

it's super uncomfortable these palm scenes with gon, really unnecessary.

karina

That the depends, was it the frog that pooped and ran away from you, or the girl? 🤔

TeaDrinker3000

Once I picked up a frog to show a girl and it pooped in my hands and hopped away. Do i have nature knowledge rizz too?

Shivering King Banana

If Gon had been on a date with a girl his age the whole firefly scene would have been so cute. Bro got that nature knowledge rizz

MrChuuni

I think of the needle as just a physical representation of his trauma. In real life even if you have moments where you get over things and grow they still come back at times. But as a writer you'd like to get past this in order to continue the characters growth.

Shivering King Banana

Yay! I hope you both had a great holiday :)

Hello Hunter fans, here are the results to the survey last week! We had 74 unique voters before the poll was closed, thanks again to everyone who took part. I'd love to do another one of these down the line as I had a blast collecting the data. Perhaps a survey on a big list of shows the girls haven't seen yet that you'd love them to react to, favourite shows outside of the channel, or maybe even when one of the main shows ends a survey asking about your favourite characters/seasons/plotlines etc. from that series. The results are ordered in ascending order by each show's score out of 10. I've also included the viewership-percentage next to the score so you can see how many of us have acutally seen each show in question. Well, without further ado, here are the results! #27 The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power [3.82/10] (41%) #26 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners [6.25/10] (67%) #25 Vikings [6.82/10] (51%) #24 Death Note [7.11/10] (90%) #23 Midnight Mass [7.12/10] (36%) #22 Invincible [7.15/10] (70%) #21 The Legend Of Korra [7.19/10] (61%) #20 Violet Evergarden [7.29/10] (64%) #19 The Haunting Of Bly Manor [7.38/10] (31%) #18 The Boys [7.49/10] (70%) #17 The Last Of Us [7.60/10] (81%) #16 House Of The Dragon [7.77/10] (63%) #15 The Expanse [7.80/10] (44%) #14 El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie [7.85/10] (60%) #13 The Bear [8.06/10] (50%) #12 The Haunting Of Hill House [8.17/10] (42%) #11 Band Of Brothers [8.32/10] (47%) #10 Arcane [8.47/10] (74%) #09 Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood [8.52/10] (82%) #08 The Wire [8.62/10] (49%) #07 Mr. Robot [8.69/10] (69%) #06 Mob Psycho 100 [8.79/10] (63%) #05 Attack On Titan [8.95/10] (94%) #04 Vinland Saga [9.16/10] (83%) #03 Better Call Saul [9.18/10] (64%) #02 Avatar: The Last Airbender [9.26/10] (71%) #01 Breaking Bad [9.36/10] (83%) And there you have it! The highest rated series is Breaking Bad with a 9.36 out of 10, whilst the highest viewed show is Attack On Titan with a 94% viewership rate.
