The Wire 4x03 Full Reaction

Comments

It would be an hour long.

Random Random

Thank you so much!

Lmao

Bug is quite smol

Ben G

Hit enter after pasting! It should work

space colon

I'm stupid, so after I copy and paste "document.querySelector('video').playbackRate = 0.95910" into the console, do I click enter? Or just copy and paste it in there and close it out?

M Salam

I saw this last night and didn’t even want to comment out of fear of spoiling lmaooo. My jaw dropped when she said it

cheech

When they finish the series, someone needs to make a supercut of all the times they predicted upcoming plot points.

Mike Conlin

Yeah, I'd rather have the muted video than the audio. You can't pause the video or everything falls outta sync and you have to have two windows open

Vicpres

We'll just have to remind her. 😉

Chidi.

Goddamn that's such a good catch with the aggressive kid! I'm beyond impressed with the attention to detail this show has. The way I'd personally pitch The Wire is that it's the greatest documentary on modern America ever made. Not a documentary in the traditional sense of the medium, but a historical fiction that represents truths in ways that documentary filmmaking cannot. In other words, The Wire is the television equivalent of Tolstoy's 'War and Peace'.

TeaDrinker3000

I did that last night after finding your previous comment, thanks isak!

TeaDrinker3000

Just gonna copy paste one solution: If you're on a PC, right click the reaction video and then click on inspect. Then go to the console tab in the new window that popped up and copy paste this into it: document.querySelector('video').playbackRate = 0.95910 Now it should stay in sync. If you're on mobile I don't know how it can be fixed. Edit: also, after you have them synced up, just mute your version

Isak Haugerud

Silly question, but how do you watch the full episode reaction without knowing what’s going on in the episode itself? I tried synchronising an episode with the full version, but the timing is slightly different so it keeps going out of sync. As well as having sound from both makes it an even bigger headache. Any ideas?

windyMelon

I noticed the same thing in one of the episodes where Cutty was landscaping. I’m guessing she has a good understanding of the language if not even speaks it some.

Alberto Cruz

I generally do the same.

Farbod

Gotta love how with the amount of times we saw Prez get ready for school and the other teachers basically warning him about the kids, he (and us) didn't see that coming. It was a reality check for real. You guys eyes watering as soon as you saw Michael's little brother was literally me, it just makes so much sense that Michael is a big brother cuz like you ladies mentioned he feels like the big brother of the group. Yea Namond's mother sucks and shutting the door on Dukie was so heartbreaking to see. It's so sad watching a boy get met with so much vile and disrespect just because of his living situation and circumstances that are out of his control. I also loved how Randy was the only one of the kids to introduce himself to Prez, it was a short but sweet moment.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Anybody else not watch the full reactions until the edited version is up? I always watch intro, full version, discussion and wait for both versions to be posted.

Doug

hope she remembers she said that :)

MrRuss50

One for each eye

Jay Craig

I like this new camera setup :)

Farbod

That person they mentioned wouldn't dare! lmao

Zach

Yuuuuuuup, noticed that too!! 😂

TeaDrinker3000

Haha yeah I noticed the same thing

Brendan

Ha, you made a very interesting comment in this reaction but me even mentioning it is a spoiler, we'll see what happens.

Nina

Loved this episode and reaction. Glad to see you guys in the comments have watched it and loved it too. I'll write a proper response tomorrow but for now can we give props to Prez's actor? It's my third time watching the episode and I always have to remind myself that this is an actor creating a performance and not just a real life dude, he's so believable!

TeaDrinker3000

Plenty of guns on the trained cowards who stood outside the classrooms of Uvalde while 9, 10, and 11 year olds were being killed. Guns won't solve anything.

Luis

2 guns. Prez needs to get 2 guns now.

Orr Malus

I remember reading that a while back, fucking insane, like adding fuel to the fire

HenryM

Do you speak Spanish Lola? I've noticed some good pronunciation from time to time, like that "claro que sí" was smooth. Don't remember if you've mentioned it before

HenryM

And Michael just sat back watching the whole thing unfold, like it doesn't even faze him, so sad

HenryM

There was a nice moment that I’m not sure you noticed - when the kids were walking in the alley on the way to school, Randy gave Dukie his lunch

David

@space - I simply tell them it's the best TV show. I've enjoyed The Sopranos, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, etc. but The Wire stands out for its sheer scope and ensemble cast. There's no other show like it. And I still see and read new things when watching the show and I've already seen it plenty of times and watched YouTubers reactors to it. What's your pitch?

Chidi.

Dukie being the only one to think to support the girl who did the attack, because he also knows what it's like to be bullied (and by the same girl in the same episode no less) is really sad.

Jay Craig

Whenever Duquan smiles or talks or breathes my heart breaks I swear… this episode just hurts smh @Chidi. What’s your pitch to people when you’re trying to convince them to watch “The Wire”?

space colon

Inner city schools are a mess.

BNJ

a bathroom pass is basically a hall pass. In most schools in the US you need a pass to be out of the classroom when classes are in session. If you get caught out of class during class hours you'll be in trouble.

BNJ

I love the fast updates on The Wire. Let's go!!!

M Salam

Knew this episode was coming up so googled for incidents in my city of students st***ing/as***lting each other with weapons because stories like this happen so frequently There was a st****ng 5 days ago at a High School near me, same High School that just a few months ago went on lockdown because a student brought a gun https://amp.newsobserver.com/news/local/crime/article279208554.html Most of my High school teachers didn’t even try to break up fights, just calling for the officers assigned to the school. Even My Middle School teacher who was a former Marine stopped breaking up fights after getting hit in the face by a student’s elbow. Substitutes and new teachers had no chance to get classes under control Teachers aren’t paid nearly enough to deal with this shit on top of everything else they have to do. They can easily end up on the worse end of a lawsuit if they even touch a student It’s wild that politicians have lobbied to GIVE TEACHERS GUNS TO DEAL WITH SCHOOL SHOOTERS! Like that is beyond insane https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/show/nra-backs-trumps-call-for-arming-teachers-schools-must-be-the-most-hardened-targets

space1999

Been looking forward to this more than any ep recently just because of how much love there was for Bunny (and rightfully so!)

Shaun Eberle

Bunny returns! Omar too! Good to see them return in the opening scenes. Poor Dukie - he’s smart enough to fix the broken fan and compassionate enough to comfort the girl attacker at the end; but he still sits alone in the cafeteria because he’s a social pariah through no fault of his own. McNulty’s a changed man. He looks relaxed and happy. Good for him. Mike has a lot of admirers who see his potential - Dennis and Marlo in the previous episode; and now Bodie. “Big paws on a puppy” as Chris described him. By the way… The aggressive kid who attempts to assault the academic before Bunny restrains him is first seen in the last episode of S3. You see him running away from Hamsterdam before being apprehended by the police. It’s a real blink and you miss it moment and I only spotted him during a recent rewatch. Episode trivia… This episode was written by the novelist Richard Price who also wrote the movies Clockers, The Color of Money and…. Michael Jackson’s Bad video.

Chidi.

Yeeeeeeahhh!! Looking forward to the edited one tomorrow too 😊
