The Five/Nine hack, the one that happens at the end of Season 1, happened on May 9th of 2015. We are currently at Christmas of 2015, still. September 2015 would be around Season 3, I think.

That is the only currency with these men." It's an underrated moment IMO and gives some of the most insight into Whiterose as a character. Obviously she is a monstrous villain at this point with the cyberbombings and will only get worse, but that moment is always oddly sympathetic to me. It paints a picture of her not wanting to be the way she is, and only becoming that way because of necessity. Having to fit in by playing the part of Minister Zhang and along the way losing her true self.

The stuff with the little girl that we don't know is Darlene yet (who is in the family picture in a later episode) and his family home being missing, the whole part with Qwerty talking about living in a fishbowl being like a prison and Tyrell hanging out in the apartment foreshadows the mystery of where he is in S2, and then Angela callously eating Qwerty foreshadows her betraying Elliot in S3

I really was taken aback at first because the cinematography of S4 is so un-Mr-Robot-like, but as different as it is it's impossible not to love it. It looks like a full on movie, which is oddly fitting with Esmail's original vision

I remember watching it for the first time and waiting/hoping for some sort of 'it was a bluff' moment about drugging Olivia and just feeling that pit in my stomach of 'wow he really crosses that line huh'. 2023-03-26 03:38:07 +0000 UTCIn terms of why Elliot came to Krista in the first place (as you questioned it in the post reaction), this was explained back in the flashback of Elliot and Darlene in the apartment watching that horror movie / first putting on the Mr. Robot jacket - he explains that he was locked in the companies server room while everyone went out to party / he fell asleep and woke up and all the computers and servers were destroyed. The courts sentenced him to anger management therapy - I think this was covered in S3

2023-03-26 01:25:29 +0000 UTCwell i HAD TO watch this because that thumbnail was too tempting not to watch the episode the moment i had a couple of hours free but the hour long discussion will have to wait for tomorrow. well, that was intesnse in all fronts i would say. vera's actor really does an amazing job because that was fascinating to watch. poor krista, that woman will be scarred for life. not no mention olivia. i mean, i love elliot, but fuck, that hurt to watch, he really distroyed that woman's entire life in a matter or minutes. dom, my girl, it seems like she was put in this world just to suffer. as a lesbian i would love to see her and darlene get together at the end of the show and see them finally being happy. as a person who loves dom i would actually settle for her just having a happy ending even if it implies no darlene in the picture. that woman deserves everything in the world and please, someone let he have a good night of sleep and a friend not named alexa. i'm afriad for elliot's character ngl. he just corossed so many lines and i'm afraid he's not over. i'm scared that by the end of the show his morals will be more than questioning. anyway, need to sleep since the daylight saving time is already making me sleep an hour less tonight.

In general this show is pretty well liked by people with DID/plurality, because it captures the emotional/personal experience of DID really well (by taking artistic license with the literal aspects of it). The show captures a lot of how it feels and the lived experience, even if it isn't literal.

His entire plan with Elliot is just abuse him emotionally so that he can be the person to take care of him and form a trauma bond, like he did with Shayla and how he got Krista to give him the information. It's brilliant because Vera isn't a very intelligent guy, but there are plenty of unintelligent guys who are incredibly manipulators and abusers, and Elliot is exactly the kind of person those people prey on

The show obviously does a cinematic interpretation of this (i'm not sure anyone has a Christian Slater popping up in their vision IRL) but there are plural people who have entirely separate alters, and plural people who have cooperative simultaneous/crossover alters.

And I'm loving it! It's a great episode, what else is there to say? Masterfully shot, beautiful performances. Olivia's performer (Dominik García-Lorido) does an incredible job with limited scenes, my heart hurts ever time. So does Vera (Elliot Villar) and Krista (Gloria Reuben) - this is one of the reasons why fans say Vera is compelling. The Dom/Darlene scenes are so painful to watch, even when you know how the rest of the ep is gonna go (I legit thought someone was gonna die at the time). Seeing Leon again was nice. It is a subgroup of "dissociative disorders" in which a person develops at least two distinct personalities, but the degree of separation and awareness of the personalities varies greatly. Certainly his lack of awareness of his other personalities, and tendancy to "switch" is in line with current understanding of DID. I'm not sure if anyone has presented multiple personalities at the same time, which would be necessary for Elliot to communicate directly with "Mr. Robot", especially without Elliot knowing.

My dream show would be Mad Men, the discussions would be off the charts, but I don't know how popular that would be. Besides Severance and others that have been mentioned, Bojack Horseman and Barry are both good candidates which I haven't heard you mentioned yet. Bojack is western animation but gets really serious.
