Also, the actress for Skylar absolutely nailed her role, did it superbly - the only reason you're choosing to hate is because you're incapable of separating your real life issues with your portrayal of fantasy on scene.

2023-02-25 18:54:17 +0000 UTCThe short-siding is your cinematographer (though your director needs to not object to it I guess) - Tod Campbell is a genius though, and yes he worked on S1 of Homecoming. I genuinely think they'll like s1 of Homecoming, I've mentioned it before, plus more Bobby Canavale who they seem to like in this (I'm a big fan myself, talk about iconic character actors), basically they do it to keep the audience on edge which lets be real totally works. I like s2 of Homecoming too though it is more of an acid trip than s1.. The number of shots in s4 of Mr Robot that are directly ripped from s1 of Homecoming is something else.

In the end, it turned out to be the best decision I have made. But Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are my 2nd and 3rd all-time favorite shows.

Granted, it's so polished that to me it was jarring to get used to; it felt like such a departure to go from the more rough realistic look (especially S3 which is a lot more washed out and depressing) to it looking super cinematic in S4, but once you get used to it wow does it look good

That's a big part of what makes this season so amazing; it recontextualizes all the events in the show as being power plays between two groups/people who are trying to get what they want and hitting each other back. And in the final scene when you guys were like "Oh fuck oh fuck, this is where she punches us 10 times back" XD

I was a little worried from all the anticipation to this wholesome romantic ship that you would see this episode as a win but I LOVED Melina's really complex reaction to realizing Darlene is gonna use her ("I feel horrible" while laughing haha). I underestimated your ability to have a holistic view of everything (like honestly part of me was worried you'd be somewhat excited when Cisco died because it meant the 'obstacle' of Darlene having a boyfriend would be gone) Also the talk about how Darlene thought she could fuck Dom good enough to keep her asleep had me dying

Credit to USA network for basically giving Sam total creative control and enough money, funding for 4 seasons of a complete television show without cancelling or cutting back or making damaging creative demands. I don't know how many more times that will happen in the modern era. It's a cliche to say at this point but if Mr Robot was a Netflix show it probably would get prematurely cancelled these days. I'm also rewatching Barry at the moment and that strikes me as a similar show in terms of total creative control. Very different but equally interesting. I think I just enjoy watching things that feel like they were made by people or small groups of passionate people even if they're imperfect, rather than committees.

Seeing Mr Robot on the backfoot / as the underdog is compelling to me. The character with so much control being completely put in his place by one of the most genuinely powerful men on the planet (price). His conspiratorial philosophies which sounded so cutting and epic in S1 seem so undercooked when he's in the room with people who hold real capital and corporate power. "If you're a leader, where are your followers?" - Christian Slater's facial reactions are so good here. He knows all his "followers" are literally dead or Darlene. Tyrell putting on gloves to beat up Mr Robot.... just kiss already boys. Would save a lot of headaches. Price is a top-tier character and Tyrell is so funny to me too. Price's "Wellick, wellick...." and Tyrell's "No puppet No puppet You're the puppet!" pop into my head regularly. I will die a domlene stan. Been looking forward to this ep since Milena revealed she saw ship posts way back when. Nice to have a canon gay ship in a show like this, even if it's under questionable circumstances. Lola's "Dom introducing Darlene to her best friend Alexa" bit killed me. Milena covering her face. Great reaction, great payoff

I'm only a few episodes into Better Call Saul now, and it's enjoyable but still nothing is going to top Mr. Robot for me.

As a full series Better Call Saul is better than both IMO, but it's close. Also agree with Myeh that the BB/BCS Gilligan/Gould team and the Sam Esmail Mr Robot teams are my fav in all television. I would watch anything they make.

If you haven't watched it, he directed S1 of Homecoming (the amazon prime show) and it's really good (there's a second season but its not as good imo, the first one stands alone).

I'm honestly with Dom, this would have worked on my bi ass too

I get that we the audience know more about Santiago than Dom but it's still frustrating seeing her not quite get it, and Angela's scenes don't quite mesh with the one that came before. But even so there's a lot to love, like Leon being Leon, Elliot finally striking back against the Dark Army, and everything to do with Price/Tyrell/Mr Robot scene. One of the most iconic ones for me.
