Death Note Episode 7 Reaction

Catching up because I wated 5 more episodes of Death Note. Not reading the comments because I don't want to be spoiled but out of curiousity after your comment I checked and both DN and AOT have 9'0 in imdb and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood 9'1 other than that I've only watchen another anime, Jujutsu Kaisen and it's 8'7, so out of the ones I've watched FMAB is the highest rated.

I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. So Naomi is cautious enough to give out a fake name the first time Light asks, then gives out the real one the second time, even though she has no more reason to trust him than before? Idk, seems kinda stupid; makes me wonder if the writer(s) realized she had to die immediately too late to make it believable that someone that smart would be so careless.

Imagine if Naomi was still conscious. Still "in there" but unable to move any part of her body, only observing as a supernatural force is sending her to the grave. Perhaps something like the sunken place. You're a spectator in your last moments, trying to scream but having no mouth, trying to walk but having no legs.

I really don't think that "Light like to brag about himself" and tell everyone who he is, its quite opposite, he wanted to be in the shadows and that's his only weakness beside death note, there is no other way to find a person using death note. Also Light telling Naomi that he's Kira was safe thing to do that can be also justified, i know it was bad thing he was killing her basically but still, she get knew at least the Truth at the end which was nice somehow, other people can interpret it as "bragging" but i really don't think so. Light has his own morals and justice in mind remember that. I'm personally more of team Light than L because i really like dark/evil climate, also there isn't much show's like that most of them are about super heroes that make friendship with everyone which is really boring... and repetitive, on other hand making character like Light as protagonist is something difficulty and to be admired for.

It's a fun show. But AoT is a different level. AoT has arguably the best plot ever - the way they slowly peel back the layers while being grounded in core characters. It's a rare masterpiece.

I agree with Lola. I don't think Light has "love" for any person in this world. Maybe he's missing that part of the brain, who knows. He tolerates people as long as they're of use to him, but their lives mean nothing to him. He probably sees them as marionettes he can command rather than humans with agency. It's very telling that when Ryuk first introduced himself, he notes that a normal person has never written as many names as he has. But Light is smart. I think deep down he DOES know that what he's doing isn't some moral crusade, but a journey for him to fulfill his self serving aspirations. It doesn't take a genius to understand that complex socioeconomic problems such as crime aren't solved with death. I think even if he never got the Death Note, Light would've still become a man who thinks his intellect gives him the right to judge and decide the fate of others. Oh god, imagine Light as a politician.

This episode is why I love Death Note so much. We need more of these gray/villain main characters like Light (or Eren in AoT). The good guys vs the bad guys concept that we got used to see on TV is too repetitive and does not align with the true reality of this world.

For some reason, I'm always rooting for the bad guys in shows like this. It's not like I condone Light's despicable actions or broken moral compass, however, watching his horrible yet brilliant plans unfold is what makes Death Note so addicting and entertaining. I felt the same about Breaking Bad. Even though I knew Walter White had to be stopped, I never wanted him to get caught.
