Between other big projects, I work on a small things to maintain my sanity, usually to fix little annoyances I encounter in the game while testing something else. Here is a crop of my recent efforts:
Vampire Invasion Fix
I've always been curious why some people complain about Maxis removing vampire invasion events, while others (like myself) still get them in their games. Part of the issue seems to be mod-related, but I found a deeper cause for why some people never seen them anymore. Vampire invasions are coded to occur in all residential Worlds that existed at the time the Vampires game pack came out (Base Game Worlds, Windenburg, San Myshuno, and Forgotten Hollow) but either due to an oversight or intentional omission, they were never added to newer Worlds, starting with Brindleton Bay. If you mostly play in newer areas of the game, you would never see one.
This mod does several things. First and foremost, it adds vampire events to all Worlds. This includes a small chance of invasions, as well as normal vampire walkbys and the "fake vampire" walkbys at night. I used the same chances as the Base Game Worlds for all of these events. It's about 1% per night for invasions.
Second, I added modifiers to invasion odds based on certain circumstances. If there is a full moon, the chances of being invaded go up. If there is a werewolf living in the home, the chances are halved.
Third, I enabled invasions in Haunted Houses and Tiny Homes. Previously, these were disallowed even in Worlds where invasions could happen.
Fourth, I *tried* to fix some wonkiness with the event. Invading vampires will show up in front of your house instead of at the edge of the world, they are allowed to show up even if your game is running at Super Speed 3, there is no longer a time limit for the event, and I've tried to streamline the sequence from breaking in to hypnotizing to biting. That said, my fixes are not perfect; there are still some issues, and vampires may still occasionally decide to leave the event mid-way through. It's possible the bugs in the event are why Maxis decided not to add it to later Worlds.
Less Frequent Prom
High schoolers have enough on their plate already. Between homework, exams, and cheer practice, they don't have time to prepare for Prom every single week.
This mod makes it so Prom is automatically scheduled every other week instead of every week. Additionally, other high school events are only scheduled one week in advance so that your calendar isn't constantly full.
This goes into effect on new save files or the next calendar cycle in existing save files. Events already on the calendar are unaffected.
Computer Security Fix (High School Years)
A few interactions introduced in the High School Years expansion pack lack the code which check for computer password settings. As a result, teens could access computers that they would otherwise be locked out or even autonomously use them.
This mod adds the relevant tests to these interactions.
Thunderstorm Moodlet Rework
Most Sims who are inside during a thunderstorm will still have a Scared moodlet, which often leads to a full-on Scared mood and all the screaming that entails, which I find a bit silly.
This mod changes it so the indoors moodlet is an invisible, +0 strength moodlet with some underlying effects. Sims are 10x less likely to autonomously use any outdoor objects while it's storming. While having no mood strength itself, if your Sim does get a Scared moodlet, it will be twice as strong in the mood math. This also applies to any Sad moodlets.
I've made no changes to the outdoor moodlet, so thunderstorms will still cause Sims to become Scared and run inside.
These mods will remain in Early Access for a short time to gather feedback before public release. Please let me know if these are working well for you.
Happy Simming!
Comments
This mod makes it so they have a chance to happen at all in most Worlds. I've done my best to smooth over some of the bugs that can interrupt the event, but it's still not perfect.

2022-10-15 18:01:51 +0000 UTCI've never understood the vampire invasion thing- I never experienced one at all in my game. I mean they show up but hang around outside. Would your mod make it more likely that they enter (I would like a occasional invasion)?

2022-10-08 16:14:34 +0000 UTCYes, it's very possible. I actually modify those events in the mod already in order to schedule them only a week at a time, I just don't change their overall frequency. I didn't change them at this time for two main reasons: 1) I haven't played the new pack enough to know if making them less frequent will negatively affect any after school activities or aspirations, and 2) I haven't figured out a good way to make them alternate weeks, so that you would have cheer and sports one week, and prom the next. That feels like it would be more manageable overall.

2022-10-04 22:33:52 +0000 UTCI really like the idea of the less frequent prom mod! Prom every weekend makes it feel a little less special (especially since I have it set where my sims are teens for 49 days). May I ask if it would be possible to also do something along those lines for the cheerleading and football weekly events? They are considered events -- the game doesn't allow for multiple events in one day. So if we want to have a birthday party, formal gathering, etc., on a Thursday or Friday, we can't! Would that be something that could be done? I haven't seen any other mods that change that aspect of the game. Thank you for the work you do!
