Upcoming Changes to the Worldly Trait
Added 2020-10-25 20:42:50 +0000 UTCWith the announcement of the Snowy Escape expansion pack and another vacation world, I decided now was a good time to update the Worldly trait, part of the New Hobby Traits pack.
Right now, there is sort of an exploit in the trait. If your Sim goes on vacation for just a minutes and then immediately leaves, they will get the full benefit of traveling, which currently is a day long bonus to the Happy mood. There's two things I am changing about this:
1) If you travel to a vacation world and spend less than 12 hours there, your Sim will no longer get any benefit. Instead they will get the "Jet Lag" moodlet, which makes them uncomfortable, lowers their skill gain rate, and makes them act mean for about a day.
2) The reward for a good vacation was kind of dull. Now, your Sim will get better rewards the longer they stay on vacation. For short trips, there is no reward and no penalty. For medium and long trips, your Sim gets the same Happy bonus as before but also gets progressively better bonuses to skill gain, work performance, and relationship gain. The get the full benefits, your Sim has to stay on vacation for 2+ days.
These changes, along with a few tweaks to the bonus for eating new foods, will be uploaded in the coming days.
Something else I am toying with is adding a bonus for "big vacation moments" to reach Perfect Trip status sooner. Stuff like opening the treasure chest at the end of a temple run could add a few hours to the total so that an accomplished vacationer/explorer could achieve a satisfactory result in less time than a Sim who is simply relaxing. If I follow through on that idea, what are some moments you would like to see get rewarded?
Please note: the new patch does seem like it will be making some changes to how vacations work in general. I imagine a lot of this code will need at least minor changes after the pack is available. I ask that you have patience if things go wonky and I need to take time to figure things out again. :)
