Masochism Isn't an Animal To Break But a Wave To Ride

I started HIIT training a month ago. As expected, it was shit… until I broke through an invisible wall and reached the dimension where the endorphins fly. You stop feeling the pain. You stop struggling to breathe. Your whole brain changes, and suddenly, everything is lit in Technicolor.

Masochism is a lot like that for me. The first seconds of impact are terrible, but if you push through, you break through an invisible wall where the endorphins fly. Pain becomes an entirely different entity, and so do you. You stop struggling. Your whole brain changes, and suddenly everything is lit in Technicolor.

Bad sadists don’t understand this. They’ll start heavy, then stop before you break through the invisible wall. Good sadists know they’re riding a curve. Pain isn’t an animal you break, but a wave you ride. Slow down. Pay attention. Learn how to get your masochist over it as smoothly as a summer swell. You’re not breaking an animal. You’re working towards a state of bliss.

Not all masochists want to be tortured. Some of us are just in it for the endorphins. Figure out which kind of bottom you’re working with before you rush in with a barbed wire flogger. There are masochists who are in it for the psychological side of impact play and masochists who are in it for the pain. There are those who are in it for the happy hormones and those who are in it for curiosity's sake.

You can’t please your masochist unless you know what they’re in it for. And 99.9 % of us think it wouldn’t fucking kill you to warm us up first, Norman. The other 0.01% are @AncillaL and would like nothing more than to have their tongue split into two pieces, then tied in a pretty bow.

And if you're in it for the curiosity, don't assume your first few minutes of s/m play are enough. Deciding you're not a masochist based on your first moments of impact is like deciding you're not a Radiohead fan based on a Thom Yorke interview. Give it time. Find a sadist who knows how to ride a wave.
