End of year thoughts
Added 2023-12-21 16:52:04 +0000 UTCWell this has been one crazy year!
At 36 years old I learned a new skill. Here we are now. Let this be a point that it is NEVER too late to learn something, my friends.
It's crazy enough that I managed to do what I did with Starfox. I'll never get over that. I can't even begin to elaborate on the effect that romhack's reception has had on me.
But this whole Patreon is something that came from a complete accident and has turned into something that has left me without words.
I was just modifying games to add exploration modes which included never dying, jumping in mid-air and other cheat-type mods. After that, I started experimenting with breaking boundaries of games such as Rygar, Megaman X and X2. I opened a patreon because why not? I figured nobody would subscribe but at least I could host my patches easily when I wanted to.
But while working on doing the same thing to X3, I had a crazy idea that ended up being correct and led to where we are today!
197 individual lines on the master fastrom sheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gUB4N0-tM7Ln-9ZMwkp_T7bwb4tDAMI6ciioYMxXzSk/edit?pli=1#gid=0)
Many of these lines work for multiple regions, revisions and translations/romhacks. To count them all at this point is just too overwhelming.
...But the most amazing thing out of all of this? Your generosity. Over 30 patrons! This year I have gotten so many things I never would have been able to afford otherwise. I am not wealthy by any means, and like many of you I'm sure, we pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. The fact that I can buy devices and accessories like this has completely changed my life.
I am so, so thankful every single day for each and every one of you, followers and patrons alike. I know times are tough, and I am EXTRA thankful for those of you who still find a way to support me and my work.
I hope this year was as amazing to you all as it was for me, and I hope next year I can bring you all more joy and goodies!

Thanks for your work on improving SNES games with FastROM! It's great being able to play those classics with a little more smoothness, which make them more fun to play! Good luck to go on with your projects! And happy new year!!
