March 2022 Progress Report

First of all, thank you so much for your support on the last update! It really puts my mind at ease people would be willing to wait for the game a little longer if it got delayed. Right now I’m still operating under the hope I can get part one finished by the end of the summer but should any roadblocks or mental health issues show up I’ll be push back the date accordingly.

So lets just jump right into it now shall we?

Some sprites!

Like I said before as I’m turning the script into game script I like to make updates and additions to sprites to better express scenes.

Top row with Rosita, Noel, ???, and (Cheri androgynous): There is a part of the game where if you make the ‘right’ decision Rosita’s outfit with change from her default waitress to the one fantasy mail carrier! I put ‘right’ in quotations bc I want to leave it ambiguous whether or not players should do this. Next is an unfinished Noel sprite where he’s making a funny pose. I’ve only sketched it out and will probably leave it as such till further down the line so I can prioritize other things. For now, it and the sprite following it are in a “placeholder” state. Moving on is the creepy geist. It’s just a creepy geist that shows up in Mitt’s route if a certain choice is selected. Next up are edits to Cheri androgynous mode’s sprites! They now have expressions that match the male form!

Bottom row: Some rats that show up in Mitt’s route. What could they possibly be doing dressed up like that? I’ll never tell.

Oh!!! What's this? Something that moves?

Since the mini-games are removed I wanted to make some visuals to go along with certain scenes added text. There are points in the game where the player can engage in a card battle with Noel alongside Mitts or DJ. I based this cut-in on Persona 4 and Dangan Ronpa’s cut in animations. I had intended on having the character that appears in the cut-in box be colored but I think I like the black and white with only the eyes colored look personally.

I’m going to mess around with the timing a bit more so this is still considered a test.

Here's one of my recent favorite song for the game. It plays during scenes that get the heart racing (in a nonromantic way).
