I have a vivid sense of right & wrong. It goes beyond good & evil & it gets more complex than that, it’s almost a smell test. I used to go on & on about following my nose or my gut. I can remember distinctly facing down the options to be a Buddha or a Devil when I was fifteen or so. I chose both. I realized that I had to have some Devilish traits to survive in this world & that because there was no waiting monastery in the hills for me growing up (that I knew of), so I had to at least carry some of the devil with me consciously. A bag of tricks. It took understanding both of these tendencies to move forwards & in understanding these things more profoundly I discovered that they weren’t so in conflict with each other but rather two swirling polarities that had to work together to create the world. There could be too much of either, but ultimately it was imbalance that was the problem. Imagining that one could exist without the other. Earthly existence is always flawed but because we can imagine perfection we can project the idea of this ideal world that is either possible with purification or just beyond the veil of reality. The thing is, this place doesn’t exist. Our flawed reality exists. I’m not suggesting to not attempt to improve things, I just want everyone to know that this world is always a mess, the size & complexity of the mess is the thing that changes.
