Unpublished Raze Conversations - Demonheart: Hunters
Added 2022-01-08 20:59:57 +0000 UTCHey, so I've decided to post some conversations that never made it into the published games. I have an archive of unused conversation snippets, but not all of them are presentable. =) Some didn't make it into the game because of a change of plans, so they didn't quite fit in, and others I didn't know how to finish.
This was supposed to be a kind of info-dump conversation with Raze the impostor, meant to remind players of the events of Demonheart VN and inform them in case they haven't played it.
Should I keep looking for unpublished conversations like this to post here? Some of them are quite short, and I have to review and edit them for clarity, but I could dig up some more if you're interested.
(PC usually stands for a player choice, and Bright, or just B here, stands for a fixed response by Bright.)
PC: Raze, remind me of my past.
R: Hmm? I didn't know you back when you were a little peasant commoner...
B: Not that! Since I became a demonheart.
R: Well, the witch Orchid turned your heart demonic against your will, with a special dinner she hosted, which I enjoyed very much...
R: She did it out of selfish reasons, but ended up doing us both a favor. I needed a demonheart ally. Though you are not immortal in terms of aging, you heal much faster than normal humans do, and rising from the dead is certainly a useful feat in your dangerous human world. In both of our worlds, actually.
R: Orchid died for meddling with demons - it doesn't matter much who struck the killing blow, does it?
PC: Yes, it does. But I'll let it go.
PC: It doesn't.
R: Ever since you became a demonheart, I intended to take you as my ally. You make a perfect ally for a demonspawn... My human side has even begun feeling empathy for you over the course of our... friendship.
PC: [HEART] Friendship, hmm? What about that big bed in Inferno that we slept in?
PC: Oh, you've stooped so low as to call me a friend. I am honored.
PC: You wanted a master and slave relationship at one point.
R (1): That's why I say... "friendship"... Mhmhmhmh. [Gods, it sounds so wrong when he says it...]
R (2): You've done unexpected things for me, as well. I will not be jumping at your throat... again.
R (3): I couldn't believe you would accept me out of free will. Certain entities have... ruined my self-confidence. But we've put all that behind us, yes? I will not be jumping at your back... again.
R: At any rate, since your transformation you've been murdered... and a few humans made unsuccessful attempts to eat your heart and inherit your powers.
R: Nearly every human you ever dealt with has had a hidden agenda... usually a heart-eating one... Not to glorify myself, but I've always thought only of your wellbeing.
PC: Right...
PC: This is why I trust only you.
R (1): It's true. We've been over this. It all ended well, didn't it? I didn't *really* mean to enslave you.
R (2): Mhmhmhmh.
PC: Tell me about Ari.
R: Easily impressionable child witch who has difficulty picking sides. She wants everyone to get along. She did betray her mistress and leave her doomed to join you.
R: I believe she likes you. She used to like me, as well, but... I believe I may have scared her off.
PC: [HEART Ari] Well, I like her, so now that you're being reasonable, I hope you'll remember to keep your paws off her.
PC: Tell me about Sir Brash.
R: What? Is that a name?
R: Oh... The big barbarian... he had one.
R: Well... That would be the treacherous scum knight who tried to play it both ways with you. His animal instincts led him to feel attraction, while his orders were to betray you. What a charming brute. Why are you even asking about him?
PC: [HEART Brash] I miss him. Since he didn't make it here, all I can do is talk about him.
PC: I like it when you get all ruffled.
PC: I like hearing your opinions over and over.
PC: I just want to be reminded of my past.
R: At any rate, the most important thing about the worthless scum is that he is a heartless demonheart.
R: As long as his heart remains hidden, no one can permanently destroy him and make off with his powers. Of course, it is possible to pretty much stop him by burning his entire monkey body, or building him into a wall somewhere... But as for the heart, unfortunately, the witch who knew where it was is... unlikely to say anything, at this point.
PC: Tell me about yourself.
R: So glad you asked yet again.
R: I am a master manipulator, liar and tactician!
R: I may not be very powerful for a demonspawn... After all, I am very young... But I have been... nearly deadly for my own kin - immortal as they are.
PC: You hate your own kin?
PC: Are you manipulating me?
PC: How are you going to be of use to me?
R (1): Yes... Call it rivalry... and intense envy. We are half-human, after all. We don't know what we want, but we do want the worst for each other.
R (2): I tried to, in the beginning. But now our cards are open, and we can focus on deceiving everyone else.
R (3): Asides from my knowledge and insights which you will no doubt find useful, you might consider my magic powers to make me... a wizard.
