[DEVBLOG#176] Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Dryads infographics!

Inspired by Mr Samuel's new youtube series about playing with the Dryads, I decided that it's about time we expanded the selection, as well as added some new mechanics to the Gauranlen dryads.
Let me preface by saying that this mod will be compatible with Anima Theme, and the dryads will have unique textures if you're indeed playing with Anima theme reskin.

Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Dryads is a mod expanding on the selection of gauranlen dryads in the Ideology DLC. Whilst the idea behind them fulfilling the majority of the roles in your colony is neat, the current selection of dryads feels lackluster - they don’t particularly have any powerful abilities worth mentioning.
This mod changes that - from new dryad types that fill roles not explored before, to upgrades to existing dryads, the whole gauranlen dryad system can finally become a focus point of the colony.
Integration with the Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Anima Theme also means that these new dryads get a reskin that suits Anima style if you have this mod active.
This mod is meant to enhance Mr Samuel’s new Youtube series with some more dryad variety.
Without any more waiting, lets take a look at all the infographics to give you a clearer picture what we're adding!
















So yeah, that's about it. Pretty big mod with some interesting mechanics, hopefully making the Dryad playthrough even more appealing!

2022-01-13 14:40:59 +0000 UTCholy fucking shit the crossover is real, we need to get mr creamer on this pronto, and I love the balance going on with the awakened dryads, adding features like being able to draft them is great (for those who don't have it modded in already). Will the awakened dryads have training requirements / maintenance? Currently what makes dryads great is the fact they require no training and just come ready to release and haul, after pruning of course. Will their separation sickness instead be the required maintenance? Having skilled doctors maintain the awakened dryads instead of traditional animal handling? That would absolutely spice things up instead of coupling this with animal personhood memes and such. Sorry if this is unorganized as I was not expecting you guys to make such a mod, and the Dryads are absolutely one of my favourite features of the DLC which has me two parts surprised and excited beyond belief as well as the prospect that this will be out soon!

It needs to be some timeframe that’s actually within the normal playthrough timeframes (no point in slapping a 15 year limit if no one ever reaches that anyway). Based on preliminary calculations, it might be 2 years without medicine. Maybe 3 years with.

I like the awakening concept and the new models look great and fit in fab with the vanilla game as usual! Plus a plug in with the anima theme I love! I'm a softie so I probably won't be able to condemn my poor dryads to a slow death, but will they be findable in the wild 'awakened' rarely like this? Or maybe a funeral ritual to burry the remains of a dryad back with it's original tree? Really looking forward to this mod now! (I have all the vanilla expanded animal mods and alpha animals. I play rimworld like a zoo...)

2022-01-12 17:54:30 +0000 UTCAwesome mod, looking forward to it. Only thing seeming off to me is the ambrosia produced by dryads and trees. 30 every 2 days for a single dryad is a bit wild. A single tree with 3 dryads would generate 40000 wealth a year. That is a bit excessive. I think 10 every two days and 75 for the tree is more than powerful.

2022-01-12 17:51:58 +0000 UTCSo far every awakened dryad seems cool and balanced, but I feel like Awakened Spitter's ability should be changed. Creating many awakened dryads seems to be rather time-consuming, so you will probably try to avoid their death at all costs, even if it is for the acid explosion. Not to mention that separation sickness can kill advanced splitter when it is at home area, possibly harming your own colonists
