[DEVBLOG#144] First look at Memes and Structures mod!

Hey guys!

You are the first ones to see it before I post it on Reddit etc. I'd like you all to read it carefully and point out any inconsistencies or typos I might have let through.

This large infographic shows exactly why our Memes and Precepts mod will take so long to develop. We are essentially doubling, if not tripling Ideology content with new memes, precepts, structures (each with very unique styles), roles and rituals.

Please let me know what you think, and trust me when I say this: I most likely won't answer any questions, because the mod is still so much in development that some things might turn out not to be feasible and will be changed altogether. Hence, there is no point in me giving you specifics if specifics will change.

If you have any general questions, or just want to ask me how I feel, feel free to!

"Ungulate" isn't the word you want under Insectoid Supremacy. An Ungulate is a hoofed mammal. I'm guessing you meant "undulate." "Scrapper" doesn't feel like the right name for what you have there, as it makes me think of someone who Scraps things, so they'd be tearing down old things to make new things out of it. The description almost sounds like the pathology of a Hoarder, if you think that works.

Trader meme description: period instead of a comma Light meme description: period instead of a comma Omnism structure description: period instead of a comma Hedonism structure description: period instead of a comma Good general rule: if two sides of a comma can be a complete sentence on their own, and there are no transition words like "and", "but", "or", and "so", then it should be two sentences.

Grammar correction in Blood Court meme description: "Bloodshed, corpses, scars" should be "Bloodshed, corpses, and scars" And a request: I think it makes sense to add a charity: abhorrent precept, perhaps associated with the Trader meme.

Well, I sure didnt expect this mod to be so big. I know you said "No questions about mechanics" but I was wondering, with Pain: Dont Care precept, are pawns simply unaffected by pain mood debuffs, or do they also not get the conciousness penalty from pain (until pain shock)?

I'm just saying, but religious orgies are like.. super a thing and could totally see that as something that ties into communal groups. We do the ritual by sleeping with random partners, ect ect. Sounds pretty hedonistic to me. :)

Mechanoid Supremacy will come with 'Salvaged Mechanoid' sculptures that confuse Mechanoid IFF, making them leave the map if enough of those sculptures are found (2 sculptures for each colonist). Insectoid Supremacy makes insectoids non-hostile.

Wow! I hadn't realize how large the scope of this mod was. I've been looking forward for this mod so I'm happy with all the choices though I know this probably will not be available for little while .(Which is fine, I'm patient :) )

The vanilla expanded teams just keeps amazing me with there high quality work. I've been wanting to make a colony with an ideology that reflects that of the church of the broken god from the scp wiki and with this it will be so much more feasible.

Thats amazing! Just wanted to add, fire worshipper colony will be viable only before first fire... Especially without slaves. I suggest to remove debuff for fire extinguishing, or replace it with fire starting spree chance on all worshippers, or at least allowing to have several fire keepers. Or this will truly be a rebuild-colony-once-a-week experience

Wow this is an amazing piece of information. I'm so looking forward to this. So, you said to not ask question about mechanics, but I want to ask something that's not about mechanics. Are you planning to coop these ideologies with other Vanilla Faction Expanded mods i.e. make certain factions always spawn with certain ideologies or memes?

Looking at the memes that penalize fighting two of the most common late game enemies I have to wonder, do they make their respective enemy type passive towards pawns with corresponding "X supremacy" meme? If not, I fear we could end up in a similar situation as pre-1.3.3087's replanting update tree worshippers, either having to exclusively make decisions to avoid the very thing that your pawns should worship, take the massive mood penalties, have designated slave force for abhorrent tasks or trying to find weird meta workarounds. I'd like to know your stance on those particular two memes.

This preview is amazing. I only found 1 spelling error: "Pestilance" should be spelled as "Pestilence" in the eschatologist symbol description. I'm so looking forward to this mod.

What the hell, this is amazing. One or two memes already make a fairly large change, this pretty much doubles down on the value of ideology. I have a few suggestions: I absolutely love the gestalt/corporate ideas. I feel like they include a *lot* of awesome content. Is it possible to expand on these? The corporate one could go as far as demanding the player to pay pawns monthly in exchange for additional mood/productivity and maybe additional "hired" workers. I think this one has so much potential it could even become a mod of itself. For gestalt the ability to "sync" with other pawns to share pain, skills and others might be interesting. Thank you once again! You guys are awesome.
