I Thought We Were Done with Moving Vans...

Moving has certainly been a theme of the past year! The children's theater spent last August/September moving out of the old building, then we worked out of storage units and satellite locations for 4 months, then we moved into the new building and had our first shows, classes, and camps. Then, as I was working on this postcard, Naomi and I found a new place to live! Thus began another round of boxes, packing tape, rental vans, and trying to remember which box you left that important thingie in.

HOWEVER, my drawing desk is all set up!

Whatever art comes out of this corner, it is partially thanks to Becca, Luz, Sam, and Roy, my generous, cooperative, and surprisingly ripped friends who showed up for Moving Day.

Naomi and I also went to Banff in August to watch my younger sister get married! It's hard to get my parents and all the siblings in one place, so we spent a week together. Of course, one of the highlights for me was trying an e-bike:

TRUE STORY: I saw that memo in my notes from a staff meeting. I emailed the costume shop manager for details, and (this didn't make it into the cartoon) she had been DOING THE THEATER-LAUNDRY AT HOME. She sent me a photo of green glitter shards in her lawn a couple weeks after the fact.

Don't mess with glitter, folks.

The new theater has way fewer creaky floors and spooky nooks than the old building. But for example if most of the lights are out and you're not expecting a lobby light to throw a huge Becky-shaped shadow on the far mezzanine wall, it's quite startling.

Thanks, as always, for supporting me on Patreon! This past year was a combination of new job-location, new job description, new coworkers, and then new house.
