Hi patrons!
I’m home from the Vancouver Comic Arts Fest, which feels like it warrants a Patreon post.
Naomi and I drove to Canada on Thursday...

...which gave us a free day before the convention.
We found a short hike that had good reviews...

...and I got to cross something off my bucket list!

Note: always keep at least one wildlife photographer between yourself and a wild black bear.
Not pictured: two roly-poly cubs!!! One of the photographers is @wildlifephotos128 on Instagram, for sharper bear pics.

What's more stressful than a surprise encounter with a mama bear? STANDING BEHIND YOUR COMICS IN A GYM FOR TWO DAYS. Just kidding, sorta.

I had some really cool conversations, including someone telling me a little about being a young butch in Montreal in the 1970s!

VanCAF absolutely wins for "comic convention with best proximity to good food and breathtaking nature."

*to be completely precise, there's a con in Alaska I haven't been to that might be more scenic, and Chewie's Biscuit Co and this beach are a short drive across the Burrard Street Bridge from VanCAF, but there IS takeout and a waterfront park a block away from the convention location!

Here's my haul from the weekend:

After the weekend, I jumped right back into the theater, which involves training a new box office-r! But tomorrow's an actual day off. Happy reading to me!
Thanks, as always, for your support.
