Hi patrons,
We did it! We pulled off the Costume Sale. It took everyone several hours to move all the costumes out from storage onto the floor:

At one point Production needed to use all the dollies, so we got creative:

Look at this wonderland!

There were a couple of days last week where I was running to the basement to sort Education costumes, upstairs to keep an eye on Box Office/summer camp inquiries, and further upstairs to help Production with set painting.
...and in between all that, I got to raid the outgoing dress collection, mwa ha ha ha!

These were my favorite dresses that would never fit me:

...and this was a costume that fit perfectly because everything is on drawstrings. (It came with a gorgeous but very tiny white blouse.) I tried to recreate the old family photo on the left.

Not pictured: a whole lot of tripping and getting stuck in doorways.
All kinds of people came to the sale--kids, parents, 20-somethings, hardcore theater people, and passersby--and it was really fun watching them find a skirt, Halloween mask, princess dress, vest, or button-down shirt that made them light up. There was also a theater educator shopping for a mostly-girl middle school production of Newsies, which I'm so happy is a thing that exists!
When the sale was over, our volunteers helped with cleanup in exchange for taking home as much as they wanted. I don't know how that one theater-teen got all those hoopskirts into their car!

If you happen to be (or know) a teacher in Portland, OR, we're opening our doors this Thursday 5/12 from 2-7pm to clear out the leftovers! Let me know, and I'll send you the details.
Thanks, as always, for supporting me on Patreon!
