Watercolor Buildings and theater postcards!

Hi patrons!

When I want to draw but don't feel like cartooning, I'll go through my Camera Uploads for a building to draw. This first postcard is a flower shop I saw over Thanksgiving, when I was visiting family in San Diego. (Southern California beats Portland in terms of interestingly-shaped buildings!) I noticed this store when we were walking to the post office. I didn't want to look like a giant tourist right at that moment, but later we drove past it, and I took a picture out the window. Then I looked it up online, to get a better view.

The Bread and Roses Market is on an interesting stretch of SE Foster Rd. Architecturally, it runs the gamut from Old West-looking wooden storefronts to streetcar-era brick to strip mall to "those ugly new condos popping up everywhere." Once I've finished a few more SE Foster postcards, I want to print them as a set.

This is a current satellite location for the children's theater. We're supposed to specify that classes are at "Formation Studios," not "The Day Theater," because "The Day Theater" officially refers to the corner section of the building that has sat empty for awhile, and is not currently cleared for occupancy. (Apparently someone involved with city zoning and safety saw a flyer about our theater classes, got really worried, and contacted our Managing Director.) But if you say "The Day Theater," anyone who's driven past that marquee will know what you mean.

And here are some postcards from the children's theater. A teacher going to work...

...and an embarrassing dad.

Thanks, as always, for supporting me on Patreon! It means a lot to be able to work on lots of different projects that call to me, in a way that totally wouldn't work within traditional publishing. <3
