Hi patrons!

This page led to some fun research. In this video from 1943, entitled "Basic Typing Methods," the narrator informs us that "Today, typewriters enable women and girls to perform military and industrial services as important as those performed by men." It felt very "A League of their Own."

When I was choosing furniture and appliances for Lillian's mom Constance's kitchen, I looked for things that would be 10 to 30 years old in 1941. (They've been living in that home for a long time, I reasoned.) I learned that there's a type of antique kitchen cabinet called a "Hoosier" because one of the leading manufacturers was the "Hoosier Manufacturing Company" in Indiana.

Here's a cute video of a woman showing off her 1930s fridge. I liked how the four doors, the latches, and the motor on top make this fridge look very different from today's. In those days, serving food that required a spacious refrigerator was a dinner-party power move!

I hope you enjoyed this peek behind the scenes! Thanks, as always, for supporting me on Patreon.

Becky
