I like that moment when Aletta is confused about the duchy magic princess chick who is a half elf. As a demon she doesn't seem to get the difference between elves and half elves by sight probably because demons have all kinds of different appearances much more significant. Her prior experience with tofu-steak elf taught her that elves hate anything with animal products and she is shocked that the duchy girl loves pudding. Its subtle world building but it shows a bit about the world and character in just a small moment.

Daikon- a type of radish that’s usually pickled is what the lion was eating

Purin is Japanese caramel custard pudding which is similar to flan or creme caramel. It's not the same as pudding, the American version or the British version. American pudding is usually made with cornstarch, while things called "custard" usually means it contains eggs. Purin is extremely popular in Japan. It's also not the same as flan, which usually has evaporated milk rather than milk and heavy cream in purin, which makes the latter both "jigglier" and richer in texture. Also, the caramel topping on purin is more bitter than that on flan. ....... Culturally, adult men aren't supposed to like sweet things in Japan. Anytime you see one that does in anime, there is at least a little embarrassment or reluctance attached to it, even if they aren't explicit about it.

Thanks for the catch on that, got it fixed up. That rice dish sounds freaking awesome! I haven't had much turmeric, so I don't really know the flavor, but I wanna be trying new spices a lot more. I'm very much gonna be on the lookout for more rice recipes now!

Episode count is off. And rice works with a LOT of things, including pudding! My favorite is egg fried rice with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, turmeric, burnt paprika, sesame oil, and green onions.

If you look at the floor under the door that was in Victorias study, there’s a magic circle. She and her teacher Artorius, the old mage, are the only two who figured out how to summon and anchor a door. Though in the books there is a 3rd person who figures it out eventually. Her teacher brought her to the restaurant when she was still studying under him, he ate and wrote down the name and description of every meal available for the menu. She did the same for every dessert. She is shocked that the master replicated their writing perfectly. (copy machine) Also, have to admire the way she thinks. She spent years training in magic and created a magic mini fridge for the sole purpose of her take out to not go bad. Her brother and sister in law were asking about that, she said she’s working out how to make a bigger storage box, aka full sized magic fridge.

Aside from rice, pasta, and maybe potatoes for being good vessels, I instantly thought about Bread 🍞 You can make a sandwich out of almost anything. And if not you can still add it as a side dish, an entrée, or an appetizer. I guess I love bread. 😅

So an interesting fact the word “katsu” (カツ) in “katsu-don” (カツ丼) has similar sounds of the word “katsu” (勝つ), which means “to win.” They sound the same, but are spelt differently. So a nickname for Katsudon is Victory Bowl.
