2021

Hello all,

To say 2021 was anything other than a shit year feels a bit like gloating. There were  glimmers of “normalcy” coupled beside a pandemic and a year that involved record breaking heat waves and cold snaps. In the summer the forests burned and in the winter those same forests flooded; washing out roads, highways, homes, and lives. It was a year where it was hard to feel centered; I no longer long for the “normal” that existed before. The year somehow dragged and drifted into the rear view at the same moment. When I felt myself falling inward, I found comfort in looking more closely at the world around me. There’s much alive, good, and thriving.

It was a shit year but also a good year. For the first time, as a professional, I felt like I had some semblance of a career. I illustrated a children’s book, started a comic strip, abandoned a shitty gig, and launched my patreon. I know what I’ll be working on for at least the next year and a half. I stumbled into a job as a part time designer on an animated show. It’s hard to know whether or not this will be sustainable but, for now, in this moment, I feel extremely grateful for the opportunities I have. I am working daily on projects that are incredibly personal, with people who care, and characters I love. That I enjoy the work I must do to make rent feels like I have cheat codes enabled and I never want to take advantage or forget it.

I say all this not to gloat, but just to acknowledge what I have, what I have gained, and what I am grateful for and that it includes the audience reading this. All this to say, thank you. I am humbled that anyone would enjoy my art enough to support me. It has made a world of difference and I am extremely grateful. Writing and illustrating are so personal and sharing my work and having it received well, makes me feel like a part of myself is also being received in kind.

Anyways, of course this went longer than intended. Thank you a thousand times. Onto better things in 2022,

Adam

Adam you are one of my few favorite creators I discovered this year. Your work has a very unique feel that is both very touching as a reader, and super inspiring as a fellow creator. I am so happy to have stumbled upon your work. I wish you a happy 2022 and that things go the way you'd like them to this year. ❤️
